Something unique happened last night in my life. For 43 years of my life, I was angry after losses. Let Notre Dame ruin my evening. Last night I turned off the TV had a bonfire and talked about other things. I think I just have become accustomed and unfazed. I think I would’ve taken a loss to Texas A&M harder. This one was just so comical that it almost seemed like a reality show or so absurd and unrealistic that didn’t bother me as much.

As an adult, this is the way it should be for all of us. But let’s be honest. We’ve invested too much. We care too much for this to continue to happen. A lot of us are learning to accept mediocrity. We are now expecting this average product year in and year out. I love this university. I love this football team. Even though technically, I’m not, but I feel apart of this university.

Over the past few years, my love has faded. I follow recruiting less, etc. Losing games, and games specifically like last night would damn near ruin me for weeks. Now? I’m damn near numb to it. National title? Never happening.

I for one don’t have the faith in MF as some of you. Believe he’s genuinely a good human, but that doesn’t win you football games. This sounds crazy to judge a football coach on a corny interview, such as the one with barstools Big Cat, but after you watch that, the dude isn’t an intelligent football savant. He was completely lost in that interview. Watching him in tight/ stressful football games, you can see the deer in the headlights. He’s lost. The best employees. The best coaches. Have answers for everything or at least have confidence in what they believe it. MF doesn’t have the answers, nor confidence to be this university’s football coach. IMO

Sorry for the soft ass post. Just sick of this shit.

Were I’m at too. My neighbor called the cops on the dude behind her. Said she thought he was beating up his wife. No, he was cussing/yelling the ND game. Amateur

This is where I've been since the 2012 National Championship game. I watch every snap and root my butt off, but when things go bad I can bury it.

Unfortunately I bought back in over the summer. Tore down those walls and exposed my nerves again. I still haven't gotten dressed yet today. My wife is getting worried because I usually golf before watching NFL on Sundays, but I've been sipping bourbon since 6am in my underwear.

I seen Riley’s mom after the game. Basically walked/ran into me. Not sure if people were giving her a bunch of crap, which I think they were. She looked me right in the eye, I think she was expecting me to say something to her. As a parent of a collegiate athlete that is tough.
Did you tell her she's right?

At least Freeman took the blame Kelly woulda blamed everyone else
Yes, but fix the problem. He says that same shit every time after a loss.

“We’ve been here before, right”

How the fuck does that come out of one’s mouth after some of the embarrassing losses he’s had?

Unacceptable. I understand that Riley played poorly, don't take it out on his mother. Riley is playing the toughest position in college football where all eyes are on him.

The OSU loss is what did it for me. That loss was agonising. Brutal. I made animal noises after that loss. Nothing will come close to that again.
Also freeman is worthy of a “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me”. He did not fool me yesterday.
I also will not be surprised if we lose badly to Purdue.

Reading that MF ran team through two very physical practices last week despite coming off an emotionally & physically taxing game at College Station. Playing Monday morning QB, but did he think that was the way to keep them focused & to avoid a letdown game? If not, what was the reason for it?

Poster on the II boards who supposedly has a connection to the team & usually has solid info, says a member of the defense said the offense had their worst practices ever last week. Tim O’Malley heard the same thing. Maybe it‘s nothing but losses like this put everything on the table.

I made animal noises too. When OSU got that 3rd and 19, my son tossed the remote in my lap in disgust, hitting my testicles.

He's the NFL version of Riley Leonard. He can only throw it 7 yards

We are 18th in AP? Don't get me wrong, we suck and I think Riley may be worse than Hartman, but if we win out we are absolutely in the playoffs.
We benefitted from some terrible performances by the top 25. There is nothing I saw yesterday that would suggest we're even capable of an 11-1 season, unless there are massive changes.

The final step is simply acceptance 😅

So everyone on the broadcast was led to believe ND had a timeout left. Wow. That’s malpractice by NBC.
Seriously?

There was a whole article in The Athletic about the calls we got at the end and the timeout in particular. That douchey NIU fan showed up here asking about them. But it was correct on the field?

NBC was way off on down-and-distance several times yesterday as well. Nice to know we’re getting their A team…

I agree. I have taken a step back from ND football over the last five years or so. Not watching real closely and following scores. This year I engaged and found my weekend pretty wrecked mood wise. I refuse to let bad decisions by the AD impact my moods. I am convinced that ND will never rise above middle level teams now more than ever. Amazing how you can have such a wealthy school and the best you can attract is a busted wheel that cant compete passes most HS QBs can do. And then you have a coach who keeps a very accurate pcoket passer on the bench for a guy who cant get within 8 yards of a WR. I just give up. I told myself the NIl era ruined the sport I love and now I realize I just need to step back again.

Two observations:

(1) Both NIU and A&M have both been able to run at this defense. I assumed that TAMU had just improved but two times is a pattern.

(2) We got very lucky with a lot of poorly placed throws and drops by A&M, and it made us look statistically better then we played. NIU made those throws.
