Pate doesn’t know anything outside of the SEC. Even after beating A&M he repeatedly said ND has no elite position groups, and lacks big time players across the board. Zero mention of X, Ben Mo, Cross, or J Love.
He corrected himself in this video and said none on offense. He clearly overlooked J Love but we need more than him to make this current offense work.

Not Shocked! The past 2+ days I'm continually asked, "What happened to Notre Dame"? Honestly - I'm not shocked. If you've been watching Notre Dame for the past 30 years, this isn't shocking. Honestly, it's not. Every year, they seem to have at least one of these types of games. Unfortunately for this team, for this coaching staff - they aren't good enough to pull their heads out of their asses to win.

I don't have faith that they will switch qb's. I don't have faith that they will switch the offensive game plan. I don't have faith that they will beat Purdue, Louisville, Florida State nor USC. 7-5 is realistic.

Now - if they decide to pivot and let CJ play... or maybe Angeli/Minchey and the offense somehow finds rhythm and a passing attack things could change - but I doubt it.

ND has at least two big time players on offense. Maybe three or four. Unfortunately it appears that one of the least talented position wise is the quarterback.

This season started out looking like Mary Ellen and Erin Walton.

Now it's looking like Grandma Walton.

They were. But, come on, the offense needs to score more than 14 points against a MAC team.

You are right. The offense is why they lost.

But all 3 units weren't very good. I just don't think it's much of a saving grace to say, "yeah, but the offense was worse."

Team problem. Marcus Freeman problem.

He walked that comment back because he was specifically talking about the offense. The comment went wild viral but the correction did not.

For whatever that's worth.

unless we see some more crazy losses this season & more parity, ND eliminated themselves from hosting a playoff game. But we are way too ahead of ourselves as ND needs to focus on Purdue.

Ridiculous to says we are eliminated from hosting. Too much football to play. Agree we are way ahead of ourselves and need to focus on not sucking today to avoid sucking tomorrow.

Yeah even more than Leonard... cuz I think QB can be fixed by going to one of the younger guys... the issue is that our DL got absolutely bullied. They are not nearly as good as was project, we seem particularly soft on the edges.
This is the worst we have looked in years on the edges.

They had bad stretches against TAMU too. Both lines should always be good at ND.

I agree the DL play has been bad, but both OL's they've played have been huge and they are getting bullied as a result. TA&M averaged around 6'6 320 and surprisingly, NIU averaged around 6'4.5 315. They are also junior/senior dominated so they've been in college weight programs for 4 years.

Right, but Notre Dame's roster should be able to manage that. One of the few things the midwest does well is grow large people.

Oh, I completely agree. Cross can't be healthy based on his play, Mills has diappeared again, which isn't uncommon for him. Oben, well, we know that story. Botello is the only one playing well. Hinish is just too small and getting blown off the ball. Onye is playing out of position. Burnham has done well in spurts but is now injured.

I'm not sure why we don't have a space eater in the middle. Someone who demands a double every play.

They were getting mauled in the running game against A&M, too. Huge problem.

I think an underrated aspect to Manti Te'o's success in 2012 was Louis Nix dominating in the middle of the DL and freeing him up to make plays. We need another guy like that.

Notre Dames margin for error is so small that they can't even sleep walk after a big win against a team like NIU.

And that in itself is concerning.
