Did Byron Leftwich's name get mentioned for any other reason than that he's an OC looking for a job, and ND needs to hire an OC? Or is there some connection or chance that the rest of us don't know about?
There was a mention on one of the sites that someone from the NFL reached out to Freeman so the speculation started there and it somehow landed on BL because of the circumstances.

I'd love to see someone with strong ties to the sec. Besides leftwich who else would be possible?

I would have to assume that Gattis is really somewhere between 2021 Broyles Winner and 2022 fired Miami OC. The guy can recruit. He's worked for Saban. He seemed to really do well under Franklin, like Moorhead did, at PSU.

He's actually an overrated recruiter. From all reports this year in Miami, he was universally loathed, and that seems pretty consistent with his time at Michigan as well.

Why did Moorhead and Gattis both become less impressive while working under Mario Cristobal? That just seems way too coincidental.

Cristobal is not a great gameday coach, even though he continues to try to be.

Great culture guy, phenomenal recruiter, but he continues to try to run the Bama 2013 offense (ground and pound), and his usage of Justin Herbert at Oregon was pretty bad.

Most overrated coach in big time college football. At least Jimbo won a title.

I actually think he'll turn Miami around - IF he focuses on playing a more Dabo-esque role, rather than what he did last year at Miami.

He had some pretty good results at Oregon, and if he remains focused on culture and getting the right staff in place to handle the day-to-day football planning, the Canes should rise to the top of the ACC pretty quickly.

Unless Joe Brady (or Tom Brady) want to come to ND, it would seem that Andy Ludwig is the top choice from all that is being thrown around....

Just because someone can’t coach in the NFL, doesn’t mean they can’t coach in college football. The great college football ever sucked ass in the NFL.

Well, okay.... I will have to watch some Tampa Bay videos, because the NFL sucks so I never watch.

I wouldn’t mind Leftwich he is young, African American, and from Washington DC an area we haven’t had a lot of success recruiting. Tampa was the best offensive team in football in 2021.
