You guys can't admit publicly since this is a way-macho site, but there are occasional Hallmark movies that simply make me feel good (for a change in an old old world which leaves feeling good in short supply.) One I've watched twice is Once Upon a Christmas Miracle based on a real story. But ... since we can't go there, the attached are my favorite re-watching from my ancient era.

6 "must watches" every Christmas Season
Christmas Vacation
HUGE GAP
Home Alone 1
Four Christmases
Polar Express
Home Alone 2
Wonderful Life, nostalgia

Still Good, but not mandatory at the house.
Christmas Story
Rudolph/Frosty
Santa Clause 1

One never watch again - hopefully
Elf - I've tried a few times, it's still stupid.

Kids picked Red One (with The Rock) for us to watch this past weekend, was better than Elf.

I just became gay because I read your post....I will need to watch Die Hard 3 more times to wash the gay away.

Quarterly revolution happening on II today lol

Everyone mad that the staff has basically done nothing for the last week reporting wise on portal, roster, CFP stuff etc and every answer is listen to the podcast
What a fabulous business medal - use the medium that subscribers have to pay for to drive traffic to the medium that is free…Brilliant!

Nightmare Before Christmas is both imo.
I was getting a haircut last year around this time and TNBC was playing on the TVs, and some young 20 something year old had the audacity to ask out loud, “why are they playing this? It’s not Halloween.” Some people’s kids, man.

I disagree and will use AI (because of laziness) to make my argument.
  • Setting: Takes place entirely on Christmas Eve at a Christmas party.
  • Christmas Elements: Features Christmas music, Santa hats, festive lights, and even snowflakes (paper).
  • Theme: Focuses on John McClane trying to reconcile with his estranged wife, Holly, aligning with holiday themes of family and togetherness.
  • References: Contains numerous holiday mentions, with some finding 21 Christmas-related references in the film.
Ho ho ho, now I have a machine gun too....no AI...seen the movie too damn many times

George C Scott in Christmas Carol would make my top 3, with Christmas Vacation and Wonderful Life.

Right there with you OMM. I like the oldies too! I would add Christmas in Connecticut, The Thin Man, and The Shop Around the Corner to your selections. Good stuff Maynard!

The so called “college football journalists,” are a disgrace. 2 years ago the national champions cheated their asses off” and we literally had members of the media saying it was overblown and that they didn’t care to talk about it. This year we have clear and obvious collusion between ESPN, the committee, and two conferences. Once again nobody is chasing down this story. Not even the ND beat guys have the balls to run an investigation on it. The industry is collectively too much of cowards to risk their profession by standing up to powerbrokers. Instead they talk about ND being whiny and move on like nothing happened. Reminds me of a great McNulty quote “this way everyone stays friends, everyone gets paid, and everyone has a fucking future.”

And until someone blows up the airwaves over this, it's never going to change.

We know exactly what is coming: they will complain about us readers/listeners continuing to ask about the clear corruption and screw job during the offseason. If you do your job and get us answers, we will stop asking. Not holding my breath though.

None of those people give a tinker's damm about what people like IE'ers say. The economic sport world revolves not a twit around any of us. Boggles my mind that anyone thinks so. The real world is a tad bigger than that.

Wrong. The main theme of Die Hard is to stop a lunatic from killing everyone.

To be a Christmas movie the theme has to be about Christmas.

So it’s time for another haircut?

Christmas party was just a scene in the movie. Keep trying. ;)
Per AI Gemini because laziness rules the day

“Die Hard
is considered a Christmas movie primarily because its entire plot unfolds on Christmas Eve, featuring a man (John McClane) trying to reunite with his estranged family for the holidays, filled with Christmas decorations, carols (like "Let It Snow," "Jingle Bells"), holiday themes of family and giving, and even a villain referencing Santa, making its narrative deeply anchored in the season despite its action genre. “

Now my hard close:

Much more than a Christmas party. I say that Die Hard is an expose of the constant march of materialism that has taken over the Christmas spirit. It is a subterfuge to the dominant narrative of our materialistic society

1. There’s no point to dig into this. The evidence we have is already overwhelming, and there’s nothing tangible that can be gained from it.

2. It won’t happen again in this manner. ND showed ESPN they will hit them in the wallet, and the message was surely received.

Sometimes life hands you lemons, and you have no choice but to spend 9 months making grenades out of them.
