Ari had a good point about this years OSU's team being the last truly elite roster, a holdover from the pre-NIL era ala Clemson, Bama of the past few seasons. NIL has evened the playing field where talent is distributed now across a greater number of teams and not stockpiled onto 2 or 3 teams like before

And of course we're playing them in the first year they could've made it in.

What do you dislike about him so much?
I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I don't hate him in a dumbass ESPN Cam Newton type of way.
He is a pretty good analyst too and had us predicted for the natty appearance before IU.
He didn’t offer a ton of analysis, mostly just conclusory statements about how talented he believes OSU to be. That I really don’t mind as he is basically an OSU guy — though he does vastly overstate how great they the team is overall, imo. My issue is how he handled himself — constantly hijacking the conversation, talking about himself, really just being obnoxious and unprofessional. It sounded to me that Pete and Matt we pretty off-put by his antics. He sounded like an amateur. It was painful to listen to the whole segment. He did apologize at the end, my guess it he finally picked up on what an ass he was making of himself.

I’ve never listened much to Ari’s podcast so I don’t know how he handles himself in that setting. But reading him for years in The Athletic his whole thing is “stars matter” and big time recruited talent wins titles, so no surprise he looks at the two rosters and picks OSU.
History would suggest he’s not wrong, but I’m curious how his operating theory will hold up in the new era.

He’s ok w/ Andy b/c Staples can keep him more focused. He went on Finebaum to debate Paul on why the teams that got bids deserved them over the SEC teams that ended up getting beaten in their bowl games.

Written Ari is waaay better than podcast Ari. I agree with your assessment on how he handles himself on podcasts. Very arrogant and dominates the conversation.

Goddamn having Shane Gillis on our side feels nice lol

Needed a dude that can battle modern trolls on the biggest stage... and that can troll back with the best of them.

Between MFMF being MFMF, and Shane Gillis trolling the SEC Bagman era on College Gameday while LIVE FROM NOTRE DAME STADIUM... there are gonna be a lot of new ND fans sprouting up.

(get to see Shane in Cincy on Saturday night. Def gonna wear my ND jersey and shout "GO IRISH" as soon as the arena gets semi-quiet)

Basically, Cam said, around the 7:00 mark that even if ND wins the NC, it is not an earned win simply due to the fact that the process of getting their, aka the regular season, was an easy path for them.

tbh I don't know why you all keep linking him... he's engaged in some of the most low effort, low IQ trolling imaginable. ND is currently 7-0 vs ranked teams and if they beat Ohio State they would've beaten SEC #1 and Big Ten #2/#3/#4. That is literally as hard as it gets.

Went back and listened to some of the OFD podcast following the Northern Illinois game. The takes on there are hilarious. Freeman is another Davie. The admins let the players pick the coach and it’s going to set the program back years. Nobody on the staff understands situational football or analytics. Leonard is awful and if he isn’t benched we are going to see what would’ve happened if they stuck with Wimbish in 2018. What a difference a couple of months make in the narrative

i feel like in previous eras ND would have gone quickly to disassociate themselves from him

Or it would’ve been a comedian like Carrot Top who happened to be a diehard ND fan
In an alternate universe Carrot Top and Freekbass co-headlining the halftime show at the Everest College Bowl! Head Coach Brian Polian trying to have his first winning season!

Merckxe525 on 247 discussing how things are "good", but not all "great" with Bowden.
- He’s struggled at times with the totality of responsibilities that come with his title.
- He does occasionally stick his foot in his mouth with recruits/players/families.
- There are segments within ND who aren’t particularly enamored with some of the more “circus-like” stunts he pulls.
- He’s at times, less aggressive than he needs to be.
- He’s a bit too nice at times, and can be naive in some situations.

Bowden is a very nice man, who works hard, and has some excellent core competencies; but, some feel he needs a bit more assistance.

Not trying to be negative. Big game Monday! Just posting info. Merchxe has sources and no doubt has an in. Awesome poster

To be fair, if you go to Fangman's page she still posts ND stuff, like...a shit ton. It's like she never left.

Most nepo babies are qualified for their positions. The issue with nepotism is that other people are qualified too.

Seems like people project 'nepotism' in hopes of tearing someone down because they've never had family operating in their professional sphere (neither have I FWIW). Why put it into the universe if there's no evidence?

Seems like 'reverse nepotism'

First time in a job that we (all of college football) are basically making up as we go along, anyone was bound to have negatives

GM is the pinnacle of sport occupation in every professional industry. Tough task
