looking into switching from IB to ISD finally and have a couple of questions. Is the Premium the go to or the varsity? Is the Varsity even worth it?
I could be wrong but I don't think Varsity actually gets you anything more? I thought it was just an option to support ISD more

so its not an extra forum space?
Yeah as lcaps said, there's an extra forum, but honestly I thought I've just seen subscribers on ISD say that the Varsity tier is more to support Mike et al. rather than make use of an additional benefit.

back in 2018 BK replaced wimbush with book after four games because the passing game was not progressing (granted the OL back in 2018 was much better than it is in 2024). i wonder if MF and staff is having this discussion, how long can you go with RL and a struggling passing game.

I think it's a valid question, if not the right thread for it. Miami has the 107th ranked rushing defense so we might not have to worry about it just yet, but L'Ville was ranked 12th in rushing defense and 25th overall in 2023, and so far this year against weak competition, they're ranked 2nd in total defense yards surrendered and 6th against the run.

Do you know how many instances someone is clearly wide open that the ball isn’t thrown? I think everyone is being quite hyperbolic with all of this.

We’re experiencing growing pains of the 5th starting qb in 5 years, 3rd OC in 3 years and a QB who didn’t get to play in the spring.

You know who else rarely went past their first read and loved to scramble? Ian Book. Granted he had more accuracy, but the majority of the fan base acts like we can never win another game with RL at QB and I’m quite over it. 99% of people have ZERO idea how to play QB and it’s very easy to Monday morning armchair it. That is not to single you out, just a general statement of people online.
I agree that most of us have zero idea of how to play QB. However, there is no being hyperbolic with noticing that in many instances, receivers were wide open. Fans noticed it and all of the reporters noticed it. Didn't you?

Fact is, he is a below average thrower, well below average. You mention Book who also rarely went past his first read. You also said he was more accurate. I would say much more accurate. Also, Book was recruited as a backup. RL, on the other hand, was bought with big money. As for the growing pains, people talk like RL is a developing QB. Well, would you spend big time money to get a 1 year QB that needs developing? So far, he has been a "swing and a miss". If you disagree, please explain why cuz nobody else can see it.

Watch the play again. I linked it.

The screenshots are sequencial. He is 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage looking down field. He saw Collins doubled and ran. Love is in his line of sight, where his route takes him, wide open, with his hand up.

That ball should be thrown by the QB of ND.
He can’t throw it that far.
NIU showed us this.

Do you have access to the all-22 film then? There’s going to be open guys missed going play by play through a whole game, but people saying “all the time” are being hyperbolic.

RL was considered developmental by everyone, including almost all of us on IE. Why spend big money on a qb that needs developing? Because he has upside that is not on the roster, he’s actually done what we need him to do at Duke with lesser talent around him, and we needed a QB for the room. You had to assume 1 was going to transfer, which didn’t end up happening. If you went into fall camp with just Angeli and Carr, you are screwed.

I’m not disagreeing it’s not to the level of play that is needed, I’ve said that multiple times and gave reasons for it. I was pointing out the unwarranted criticism for Prister’s response, which was factual because of exaggerated complaints on RL from fans who do not know what all goes into QB play.

Ok, so you are satisfied with what he has done so far? It really boils down to that. And, as for Prister, I don't think that, if you ask him, he would say he is satisfied. As for his upside, I think it's foolish to rent a veteran QB for one year to develop his "upside". Let's just agree to disagree.

No, I literally stated that in my response to you and stated it multiple times in this thread. I’m coming from a rational perspective of understanding why he was pursued by the staff, why he’s starting and why the offensive shortcomings are happening.

You should listen to the II pod from Thursday because they all discuss this. And I’m not sure about foolish but the alternative was potentially 2021-level QB room all over again.

If he doesn’t fumble the ball first…

Italics?
Fair. Damn he had a nice arm though. I witnessed one of the most frustrating wins in my ND memory as they had to win a shootout at home hosting UNC. Poor Golson couldn’t hold onto the damn ball. The next week they went down to Tallahassee & played like a CFP team.

Last qb to lead nd to a nc game. Golson is a legend. We need a black qb who can throw

Hope he locks his own account some day

Driskell is going to work himself into a heart attack one day soon. Micromanager, overemotional, goes to bed at like 2am, crap ass diet. The guy needs to stop thinking about quantity, and more about quality. Granted, I think his stuff is already quality, but he wants to have the best and most coverage on the ND beat. He's made hires to lighten the load, but you can tell, he's the one truly carrying his site since Ryan Roberts left. He can't be doing several 3+ hour shows three to four times a week. Prister used to do a lot like Driskell, but suffered a heart attack in his mid-50s, and learned to really slow stuff down now.... Two or three 1 hour shows a week. Some articles, some film breakdowns. Driskell should take a page from TPs book.
