Then a few days later they were asked who they would bet their mortgage on being in the class, & neither mentioned Thomas, then Bryan out of nowhere yells Thomas, then trailed off on some comment about forgetting he wasn’t committed yet, obviously meaning “publicly.”

So, with the 247 recruiting rankings coming out, it never dawned on me why ND’s commits all dropped until I saw a post about it from Driskell.

The new Director of Scouting at 247 is Andrew Ivins.

So, most of you probably remember him from when he worked at Blue and Gold Illustrated for about a year.

Here’s the backstory on him.
He HATES Notre Dame.
He REALLY hates ND fans.
He wanted out of BGI as fast as possible because he hated covering ND & despised the fans and openly talked about it at Coman publishing (the owner then of BGI).
That’s why he was only around for a year.

Unlike Barton Simmons, Ivins has zero credibility in scouting. Dude has no business scouting & ranking players.
And he will continue to drop ND players. He mocked ND fans in the past when players got dropped. He’s a d-bag.

As long as he is the director of scouting for 247 & has the final say in rankings, expect ND players to drop.

Driskell has been harping on this more than a few times on the IB podcast. I always thought he was just getting his panties in a wad, but this backstory on Ivins, as Driskell routinely says, "is very interesting." I had no idea. Recruiting and talent evaluation is so subjective and speculative, and it doesn't surprise me of the biases involved; however, a collective downgrading of all Notre Dame commitments is bush-league and warrants termination, in my opinion.

Yeah, I never put two & two together until he posted he used to work with the new 247 director of scouting, then it dawned on me who that was.
It all makes sense now.

Wait how the fuck did Andrew Ivins get that job lmao... he has no experience other than being a small timey journalist. Never played or coached as far as I'm aware, and also has zero experience scouting. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Absolutely. Plus in this new wild, wild west of transfers your class ranking means almost nothing because you're guaranteed to lose 3-5 at least from each class (If not more if you're A&M) so the rankings really won't hold up in the end.

Would be weird since he’s a stud. I’m not claiming to be the best evaluator of talent especially on the offensive line, but there’s a stark difference in talent level between Canion and Knapp IMO
