Woah! Wrong forum!

Here, I think you're looking for this one: NittanyFootball.com | Your Penn State Fan Community

Still wondering if it is too soon for this or not...

Matuska is already a 4 on 2 services (Scout and 247).

true, but I was hoping for a consensus :s::s::s::s: However, like you said, all of the recruits have a :s::s::s::s: somewhere with the exception of Corey who was considered a stand-out performer at the Texas NIKE came a month or so ago. I think he will get his 4th eventually. I really do like this class so far. The only player I am not super excited for, though I still think he will be solid, is Matuska. I dont really have an explanation, just doesnt seem like a stand-out performer. Would love to be wrong and if someone is persuasive, ill gladly listen. :)

I felt the same way about Matuska until I read this... XOFan – Film Breakdown – Jacob Matsuka
I was far more confident in him after reading that.

Mattingly's not going to be one of them if he can't camp with his knee injury.

I'm not sure how long he has been rehabbing it already, but it shouldn't take more than 4-6 weeks to get back on the field for a health, active young kid. Maybe he'll be able to get in a few late summer camps.

Doesn't always seem that around this time of year we may be looking at a monster class???? I sure hope we can avoid the late losses this year.

Is there some sort of lock and chain we can hold all these guys on to with? Perhaps made with Diaco Steel?©

Really???... don't we say it's different just about every year, lol.

Maybe others have, but I didn't think our recruits last year were as in touch with each other. That's the only thing that has me more excited than I should be.

I don't have f*ckbook so I never was on the Bang Bang, but wasn't that mostly Tee and Deontay?

lol, I think true ND fans are trying to cover that up as hard as the government covering up area 51. It never happened...

Did you follow ND recruiting before last year? Your IE join date is July '11.

The Class of '08 finished 2nd on NSD with 23 signees and a 3.96 Star Average. They finished First when actual enrollements were reviewed that Septemeber. The Star Distribution was almost pure bell shaped 3-16-4. Six of the those recruits were rated at 6.0 or 6.1, Rivals highest rating. Nobody in the class was rated below 5.7, Rivals highest 3 :s::s::s: rating.

Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com 2008 Notre Dame Commitments

The 3 :s::s::s::s::s: Rudolph, Crist, and Floyd. Rudy and Dayne were already verbals by this time as were 13 others for a total of 16 by June 27th.

The 16 :s::s::s::s: Gray, Johnson, Cwynar, Filer, Fleming, Blanton, Cave, Clelland, Fauria, Lewis-Moore, McCarthey, McDonald, Newman, and Slaughter.

The 4 :s::s::s: Golic, Goodman, Posluzny, and Williams.

16 were on board by the end of June, 2 more pledged in July, Floyd and Gray were next in October after ND was waxed by Southern Cal 38-0 and ND fell to 1-7. Robinson said "I'm Irish!" in December after ND had been embarassed by Navy and Air Force. The Final Record was 3-9, the nadir of ND football, but Walker said "Yes" in early January. Lewis-Moore closed out the class on NSD.

There were alot of posts on ND boards demanding Weis's head for the worse season in ND football history. Would Weis join Willingham him on the Fired List before NSD? The seat was pretty hot but this class hung together largely because of the rallying effort by Braxston Cave. And perhaps even more so by the Cave household turning into an unofficial off campus recruit dorm where Mama Cave's kitchen was always open to ND's Class of '08. Like Zaire, Crist, and others also kept the communication lines open.

No class ever experienced more adversity during a recruiting cycle than they did. They were all inundated with negative recruiting but hung fast with their choice as they rallied each other in mutual support.

This class trails the '08 group in Star power and numbers at this point. I hope they beat them but to be candid I don't see the 5 Star pool matching '08. We can hope. I'm happy to read of the interaction of the Recruiting Class of '13 and hope they never face the adversity that the '08 group did. Two years after they enrolled their recruiters and head coach were gone.

This is just one example of classes that forged their band of brotherhood during the recruiting cycle, perhaps that is what ACamp has in mind. I know I identified more with his post then yours. Perhaps it's because we've seen so many. There's a lot more recruiting reporting these days then there was 20 years ago, or even 5 years ago.

I hope the Class of '13 surpasses the Class of '08 on NSD and by the time they graduate they build on the foundation and bring home double digit wins year after year.

To answer the only question I saw, yes before last year. Floyd's class partially, as I was spending most of my time then on football/baseball/basketball/girls being in high school.

I think this year's class is a lot different than last years, imo.

As to Acamp's OP on the topic, I never disagreed. We have been in a similar position since Kelly has taken over, and the late losses have hurt us, but as I said above I think this year's class seems to be saying the right things.

I think someone else mentioned before that the staff was pushing BCS last year and it hurt us in the end.

I still just remember it differently. Tee and Greenberry (ironically) were constantly out recruiting for us, twitter bombing recruits and generally making friends with each other. A ton of guys were on ND Bang Bang constantly shooting the sh!t. At this time last year, we had a very tight knit group of players that were either committed or on the verge.

It just fell apart at the end...

See, I didn't know how many guys were in that group as this is my only form of social media, if you even call it that. I just remember most people on here sharing what Tee and Deontay were saying on there so I just assumed it was mostly them.

My question is how is FSU's class ahead of us??
FSU 11, 4*s and 2, 3* (13 commits)
ND 12, 4*s and 3, 3* (15 commits)

FSU 11, 4*s and 2, 3* (13 commits)
ND 12, 4*s and 3, 3* (15 commits)

From ESPN:

#9 FSU Commits: 13
ESPN 150: 6 ESPN 300: 7; 5-star commits: 0; 4-star: 11; 3-star: 2; Others: 0

#10 ND Commits: 15
ESPN 150: 4 ESPN 300: 9; 5-star commits: 0; 4-star: 12; 3-star: 3; Others: 0

I don't have access to their full rankings but from what they make available to the hoi polloi, FSU has 2 more ESPN 150 caliber recruits than ND while ND has 2 more ESPN 300 recruits. The 150 guys should get more individual ranking points than the 300 guys do. Apparently a big enough difference in their judgement to overcome ND's 2 additional recruits.

BTW, Rivals has ND at #10 as well. They rank ND ahead of FSU but have LSU ahead of ND.

As ESPN notes:
And remember, these rankings are hardly set in stone. It's still really early in the process, and many things will change between now and national signing day. But, as always, let the debate begin.
