I gotta say: the UConn and MsState games wreaked havoc with my already erratic sleep pattern.

In a very good way.

Irish proud, Irish stubborn!

Way to bring it home, ladies.

Muffet, I hope that there's a gold leaf tuffet awaiting you.

A couple of years ago a poster here wrote a snarky comment about Gino pushing Muffet around coaching-wise. I didn't like it much and wrote the following:

"Little Coach Muffet
Sat on her Tuffet
Eating opponents for Lunch.

Connecticut's Spider
Then Crowded beside Her
She Elbowed Him Right in his Junk."

Another reason that this was the best NCAA ever.

Arike on today's Ellen show

Arike on today's Ellen show

The first is Arike and Ellen in one on one interview

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_cylNkdsQZ8" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The second is Arike meeting Kobe. He gives her a signed jersey for her and one for her dog, a small chocolate puppy named ... Kobe.

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SmlhE0vTRds" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The third is Arike and Ellen playing 2 on 2 against Kobe and Ice Cube. The first 15 or 20 seconds is Arike taking about her shots being a team effort, mentions HOF coach, AP Coach of the Year, assistant coaches are amazing, and best teammates she's ever had. Ellen shoot like wizards.

Women's college basketball's way too early top 25 rankings for 2018-19
Charlie Creme ESPN.com

The 2017-18 season produced a national champion that lost a regular-season game by 33 points, but also suffered more ACL tears than losses. The season also produced the greatest Final Four in the history of the sport, with two overtime games in the semifinals and a championship game decided on a shot with one-tenth of a second left.

Notre Dame's NCAA title was as improbable as a championship can get for a No. 1 seed. Playing with just seven scholarship players, the Irish won a pair of games in Columbus with buzzer-beating heroics by Arike Ogunbowale. She made two game-winning shots two nights apart to beat UConn and Mississippi State.

What Notre Dame can do for an encore will be one of the biggest questions heading into 2018-19. UConn is coming off back-to-back seasons without a championship, something that is hard to swallow in Storrs, Connecticut. Mississippi State has suffered consecutive defeats in the title game, but is coming off the best season in school history.

Louisville, the other Final Four participant, returns the core of its team that shared the ACC regular-season title and won the ACC tournament.

Will any of them get back to the NCAA tournament's final weekend in 2019, or will there be new blood in Tampa. Florida, a year from now?

Here is an early look at how 2018-19's top 25 shapes up.

Details on each team at the Link

1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Irish's national championship was a surprise given all the injuries, issues and lack of depth. But if they repeat in 2019, it won't be. If health returns to the roster as anticipated, the Irish are the favorites to win the national championship next season. The frontcourt will be loaded with the recovery of All-American Brianna Turner and Mikayla Vaughn from ACL tears, as well as Jessica Shepard back for her senior year. Arike Ogunbowale, the Final Four Most Outstanding Player with two game-winning shots, and Marina Mabrey will also be seniors, and along with Jackie Young, will form one of the nation's most productive backcourts. Five-star recruit Katlyn Gilbert will give Muffet McGraw a pure point guard again.

2. Oregon Ducks
3. Baylor Lady Bears
4. UConn Huskies
5. Louisville Cardinals
6. Stanford Cardinal
7. Maryland Terrapins
8. Mississippi State
9. Tennessee Lady Vols
10. Texas Longhorns
11. Missouri Tigers
No. 12 Oregon State Beavers
No. 13 Georgia Lady Dogs
No. 14 DePaul Blue Demons
No. 15 South Carolina Gamecocks
No. 16. NC State Wolfpack
No. 17 Iowa Hawkeyes
No. 18 Marquette Golden Eagles
No. 19 South Florida Bulls
No. 20 Duke Blue Devils
No. 21 UCLA Bruins
No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies
No. 23 Syracuse Orange
No. 24 Arizona State Sun Devils
No. 25 Central Michigan Chippewas

Also considered: California, Miami, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Nebraska, Florida State

Number 1 recruit Samantha Brunelle 6’2” is announcing the 15th all signs look good for us

This could be really good for us. From what I have read, she is also very close friend with 2020 PG Paige Bueckers from Minnesota who I think could be phenomenal in our offense and who UConn people seem to be very high on.

Not saying your wrong, but where are you getting this information from?

This guy?

I ask this because Brunelle is a program changing type player, just like Skylar was. Day 1 starter guaranteed.

I didn't slog through all the posts, but Tonyc could certainly benefit from a few lessons from grammarshans.

She would make a nice addition to the team. I don't know what Notre Dame's chances are for getting Samantha Brunell's commitment, but you've got to think Muffet's team looks pretty appealing to high school players that watched the NCAA tournament. Solid team play and never say quit. You gotta love it.

Just getting a good vibe and there were multiple people saying she’s a ND lean if you read the UConn message boards they even are saying it as well as UConn dropping contact with her

I didn't realize you were so plugged into the women's basketball recruiting world too. What on earth would give you a good vibe here?

There seem to be a couple posters on the UCONN message board that seem to be in the know, according to other posters on the site. They think she is headed to South Bend. She has also been favoriting a lot of pro ND tweets on Twitter.

I am now starting a petition for 247 to start a women's basketball crystal ball.

babybruney is IRISH!

babybruney is IRISH!

Samantha "Sam" Brunelle 6-2, Hoopgurlz #1 recruit overall, Prospects Nation's #1 Forward, #4 Overall

2019 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings - Super 60 - ESPN

The Nation's ELITE | Prospects Nation

She joins Anaya Peoples in the Class of 2019.

Peoples is Hoopgulrz #2 PG and #15 overall and ProspectsNation's #2 PG and #5 Overall.

This is already a great haul for the National Champions and there's more to come.

Today at 3 pm ET in her high school gym Sam thanked her mom and dad, coaches, trainers, and teammates. In talking ab out her reasons for selection she mentioned "adversity". Then she turned to her teammates standing behind her and they all unzipped their jackets to reveal ND t-shirts. Then they broke for ice cream. They was at least one ND tee shirt in the audience.

Samantha Brunelle verbals to the Irish. It was a pleasure to watch her announcement in front of her home team fans. She credited all those who helped her along the way and even recognized the grit and determination displayed by this year's Notre Dame NCAA Champions. She will be an excellent addition to Muffet McGraw's quality young women.
