Adams looked amazing in person last night. He looked more decisive and he accelerates when he sees an opening.
Wimbush is a dangerous man.
Defense was aggressive all night, Hayes and Kareem flashed all night. Thought Coney played very well.
Great night, great win. This team is going to be tough to beat moving forward.

I love that Lion called his shot and then it played out exactly as stated. How the fuck you can be a "Notre Dame fan" and have literally zero positive things to say after a historic beatdown of a rival AND #11 ranked team in prime time is a non-starter.

I honestly don't recall ANY positive comments after a win. EVER!! (not after LSU, not after USC 2015)

Part of me is in the minority though: it would have been nice to have him around in the event that everything bounced well and the Irish won a National Championship - I would have loved to see him spontaneously combust

I haven't heard anyone talk about this. Why at the 8:49 mark in the 1st quarter was it 1st and 20 after Barrs was called for holding, but the chains were actually only 8 yards downfield and Jones was able to get a 1st down with a less than 20 yard run?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6EjPBh0Mps&t=1440s

The broadcast and announcers were wrong. It was 2nd and 4 from the 44 when the play started. Tirico said the flag was thrown around the 50. Ten yards back from the spot of the foul brought it to around the 41. Making it 2nd and 7, not 1st and 20.

Refs were correct, NBC not.

Yes. I didn't actually see a replay, but I think the hold was near the end of the run, so as you say it brings the ball back 10 from the spot of the foul or end of the run - not the initial line of scrimmage.

No. Matthew 6:5 is about praying in a way that other people will praise the prayer for his beautiful prayer. It does not mean to not pray publicly. It means be sincere when you do pray publicly. Sharing the pre-game prayer is not for the glory of the Priest giving the prayer, it is to show the spirit of what Notre Dame is all about.

This covers it...was how I understood Matthew 6:5, and how I see the intent of the presentation of the prayer.

My favorite ND game since we beat up on Oklahoma. Also, it's worth mentioning that I've literally been killing my bookie this year with ND.

I also saw a dude literally ripping on the fact that a guy took a puppetry class as an elective, saying that was indicative of ND's bad academics. Literally this was the hot take of someone rooting for the school where Leinart took nothing but ballroom dance one semester so he could focus on football. Can't make this shit up.

I just love that, like me, yall's first thought was to check out the USC boards to enjoy the show.

Answering USC's scores with TD's tells you all you need to know about this team. Another game and more improvement. Wimbush took another step in his passing game as well. Coney made a statement to start. Big run up the gut of the defense and USC can't catch Adams. Kid runs like Eric Dickerson.

I see no let down next week.

This is where it feels different... in the past ND would have let the opponent right back in the game there...

ND-USC Post Game Thoughts

Anybody who was at the game want to chime in? Curious how loud the stadium was and also curious how much of a party the second half was.

I’d never seen, heard, or felt a buzz like there was on campus yesterday.

As for the game... My ears are still ringing from last night. The crowd was insane for about two and a half quarters until the rout was completely on and then, at least in my section, they took it down a notch but still got up and loud on third/fourth downs and big plays. I had quite a few U$C fans around me and it was a ton of fun going nuts and air high fiving (returned with stern looks) for all the big plays. The best moment was easily the Adams’ 84 yard run. I was in the southwest corner and had a great vantage point of the hole open up, and as he ran towards paydirt, the slow rise of the fans around the stadium was one of the coolest sports moments I’ve ever witnessed in my life.

Easily the most fun I’ve ever had at a football game, and I can’t wait to do it again this coming weekend!

Wait, is this true though, the puppetry class?

I have no clue I didn't hear it during the broadcast but this dude was ranting and raving about it... made a whole thread dedicated to this puppetry class.

Flutie was dying to get that "pulling the strings" line out, set up by the puppetry class.

Then that is pretty bad if ND offers a puppetry class.

Well to be honest they messed up the refs conference, spots on the ball and penalty calls as well. Its probably he is taking a philosphy class in pedantry and they thought puppetry.

We will explore the rich cultural history of shadow puppetry and its translation into modern theatrical performance. Through lectures and workshops students will shepherd their ideas from the classroom to a final public performance.

Just finished rewatching the game and something I noticed is that on the last play of the game, when Montgomery took a knee, we had an illegal formation. We only had 6 guys on the line and five in the backfield. Obviously not important at all, but I just thought something looked wrong and was kind of amazed none of the refs tried telling the players someone else needed to get on the line.

I know it's important, I do. I honestly do... But we're talking about puppets man. What are we talking about? Puppets? We're talking about puppets, man. We're talking about puppets. We're talking about puppets. We ain't talking about the game. We're talking about puppets, man. When you come to the stadium, and you see ND play, you see ND play don't you? You've seen ND give everything they've got, right? But we're talking about puppets right now.

This team is clearly very undisciplined. Kelly must go!

Did you really think Film and TV majors take Differential Equations or Organic Chemistry as electives? They take classes in their major.

It's a class offered by UND's Department of Film, Television, and Theatre, apropos to Film and TV majors.

And here's a similar class at Yale, co-sponsored by the Yale School of Drama. I seem to recall they have an excellent academic reputation.

I would pay to watch a puppet show reenactment of Saturday's game.

At 49-14 with the clock running down to zero, I suspect the refs didn't see the point of calling a illegal formation penalty on a victory formation when dinner was waiting.

Good catch on the misalignment.

Yes, this was talked about during the broadcast. If Theatre is a major, I can see how this could be an actual elective.
