SirDishands of the House of Palmolive. Fire is Fire. Some folk never know it. I challenge you to a game of... of...I challenge you. ... to...a series of slow pitch softball.

I bet I'm a better slow pitch softball catcher. I have Southpaws.

Could we make it a round of putt-putt? I gots me a stretch of Gore-Tex tube that replaces my home-grown femoral artery in my left thigh. Running is kinda out of the question. Crouching in a catcher's "stance" would leave me with a numb left foot and unable to stand up.

Miniature Golf is a short course, usually on flat terrain. The putter comes in handy as a cane if needed.

You want big, big noise? Put a damn roof on the stadium, dangle a ****-load of PA speakers and Jumbotrons from said roof and pipe in random bursts of rabid screaming. Things will get loud.

Want to watch a college football game? Go to the house that Rock built. Yell your vocal chords raw, jump up and down till your legs collapse and clap till your hands bleed.

Just watch the game on the field, not on a jumbotron or a smart phone. Listen to the announcer and the marching band. Lend your voice to the cheerleaders with "We Are N-D" and "Let's Go, Irish."

Hell, stay home, watch the game on your 60" plasma or at your local sports bar if the "blue hairs" drive you so effing crazy. Save yourself the cost of tickets, travel and lodging. Take the game day experience for what it is, funeral atmosphere and all.

For some reason this brings to mind a comment Norman Mailer made when speaking at Notre Dame. "I love Notre Dame. It's a school of the 60's in the 70's."

Yes. Now, excuse me, I have to get back to my crossword puzzle and prune juice.

The only place where the median age is higher than ND Stadium at a home game, Is Tucson, AZ in the winter.

grapefruit juice is the buisness [sic]... just saying

Careful with that grapefruit, Eugene. A housemate my junior year at ND went a bit over the edge with citrus I brought back from trees in my yard in Orlando after winter break. He ate two very large large grapefruit (four halves) for breakfast one day.

He abandoned one heavily "soiled" pair of tighty-whitey's at the Morris Inn and then spent two weeks on a Kaopectate/Ex-Lax roller coaster ride.

Respect the citrus ... and the "business" it might bring into play.

A large screen for replays and ND hype videos would be great. As long as they ban any freak bass video's

There are certain games where it's dull. But the Michigan game last year was the loudest I'd heard it since the Washington goal line stand game I was at.

The Washington goal line stand was the loudest I'd heard it in my life.

Wow, I was just about to rant about how bad it was. There were also herds of people who left in the 3rd qtr too. It's depressing. Its emabarassing. It's annoying. I hope this gets addressed.

I've discussed this many times with my friends. What they should do is dedicate the upper bowl to older fans who do not wish to stand and cheer. If not the upper bowl, then at least some designated sections. That way, fans that will contribute to a noisy atmosphere won't be complained about or told to sit down. Also, younger alumni should be in the lower parts of the sections around the whole stadium. The student section is awesome, and the recent alums will keep up a high noise level. This way, all the old people who just want to sit and watch the game don't have to worry about an obstructed view and we still get some noise.

Exactly. And, who do you think can best afford the better seats? I'm thinking it might be the 55 year old corporate execs, not the 24 year old who is one year into a job and is trying to pay off the $100,000 of loans.

The crowd was far from wild. Youre typical excitement over big plays, but for the most part people seemed to be bored with the game being well in hand early in the second.

Some people just can't be pleased.

The crowd noise was alright, students stayed the entire time and people left early cause it was a blowout. One neat thing was that the stadium had a wave going for about 2 minutes (5 or 6 times around) and I saw him actively participating. I feel really good about getting him and I think we lead currently.

If only one of the girls he was sitting with could give him the treatment the guy that HCTI posted a pic of got. LMAO that would get him to come for sure. Hahahahahahahahah.

What ND should do is give all of us on IE free entrance into all home games at about the 50 yard line. I am sure we could fill a good portion of that stadium and we could get it ROCKIN no problem!! I secretly think ND made the USC game a night game so the crowd would all be wasted and be loud and crazy as hell to show the recruits a good time and get them to commit.

While I'd love to throw all the old people into the top sections where they can fall asleep, I know it's not feasible, and I appreciate that they help ND get sellouts. But it is truly infuriating to see how passive they are. What used to **** me off the most was the "WE...ARE...N...D" chants during the 4th quarter (each quadrant of the stadium says one part). Essentially, the chant sounded like "WE...ARE...n......". Hopefully, the night game keeps the old folks at home and in bed. There should be a bunch of young alums there that weekend, meaning it could be the first game in years with a legitimate home crowd advantage.
