All of our loses this season were pretty close. If we couldve somehow pulled out a win in one of those what do you think wouldve happend. Would charlie still be the coach, would we have accepted a bowl game. What game would we had to have won for that to take place? What do you all think?

If he had beaten USC, and finished 7-5? He might still be the coach. In fact, I would say that he probably would. But he would still have the hottest seat of any coach in College Football.

so depending on how BK does one might say this season was a blessing in disguise

Navy!

We were expected to lose to USC and we played great! If we would have won against the Naval academy who knows what could have happened.

The reason I dont like this argument is because some of our wins are so close they could have been loses as well. Early in the year we pulled out close games. Late we didnt.

Red flag to me right away was the loss to Michigan. I was at the game and they did the lineups for both teams and ND had better players at virtually every position on the field. I thought it was going to be 41-10 ND.

Then the close call at Purdue, the Washington game at home that we really had no business winning except for a flukish goal line stand that I never saw anything close to again the rest of the year.

Michigan State was a lucky win, wide open guy that was missed by the MSU QB at the end. BC was a intercerption late and deep in our end.

It really was a .500 team when you look at it. We pulled a few out of our asses but lost a few we shouldve won.

Agree and well said. For everyone we won by a few points we could have lost, and everyone we lost by a few points we could have won. F that lets start dominating teams, leave no questions asked. A team can get away with winning 2 or 3 close games a year but when you have as many as we did your gonna lose some. sucks we lost 6.

One more 'what if...'

What if Hunter Lawrence misses the field goal, or Dolt McCoy doesn't feel a pass rush and heave the ball out of bounds in the nick of time? Who's our coach?

Harbaugh was never a consideration... he was a media darling. JS said as much.

I believe that is CW would have beaten UConn... or Stanford... CW would have been there next year... now that some articles are coming out saying JS might leave as I said back in mid November... he may have punted the whole new coach matter to the new AD... but with a 6-6 record, the card was played.

For me, the atrocious efforts against Navy and Stanford nailed his coffin. I was a supporter of keeping him until those two farcical attempts at football.

The navy game pretty much seeled his fate. He needed 9-3 to keep his job after that atrocious effort imo

I think losing to Michigan was early and would have been forgotten with either a BCS Bowl or even a significant Non BCS Bowl. Losing to USC hurt but the fact that other teams beat them hurt even more. But finishing 0-4 absolutely killed his chances. Does finishing 2-2 keep his job with an overall 8-4 record? Perhaps, if he won a bowl game and went improving to 9-4 with two bowl victories in a row.
