Not Irish related, but if you didn't see cooper Dawson's announcement video, look it up. That's what it should be about.
Saw it and loved it. This young man has great character.

I know this isn't ND material but I'm really hoping I'm right on so many levels. 30-year-olds being recruited by the SEC.

This class is nuts...
QB- Home run
RB- Fine, getting 2 bodies was crucial for depth chart
WR- When Micah Jones is the fourth best guy coming in, it's a home run
TE- Could have passed on TE entirely, instead brought in 2 legit players. Home run
OL- Probably one of our worst OL classes in recent memory. Still, 90 percent of schools would kill for this OL class
DL- Solid, if not spectacular. If we can close on the '19 guys we're in great shape
LB- Fucking grand slam
DB- Home run
The weaknesses in this class are probably RB and OL, and we hardly embarrassed ourselves there. Yeah we don't have the star power coming in that some of the southern schools/OSU do, but this is about as good a class as ND could possibly hope to sign. The cupboard is full.
Went to find my post from last year about the class, to try to assess the two year recruiting.
QB-Jurkovec -> Clark. Love it. 5 star Phil means it's still a HR.
RB-Smith/C'Bo -> Kyren W. Need to do better here. Like Kyren, but I have doubts last year's pair will ever be up to standard.
WR-Austin/Keys/Lenzy/Jones/Wilkins -> KAR/Hart. KAR has great potential, last years class was big on talent and numbers tho so no holes really. Next years class could be yuuuge.
TE-Tremble/Takacs -> Pass. Got the two best TE's coming in next year, we were absolutely right to pass on TE this year. Cupboard is full.
OL-Jones/Patterson/Dirksen/Mabry ->Carroll/Correll/Kristofic/Olmstead. Fuckin HR after last years underwhelming OL class.
DL-Ademilolas/Franklin -> NOM/Lacey/Spears/Cross/(Foskey). Both Ademilolas look they will be impactful, and we're bringing in 5 4*s. Great stuff.
LB-Simon/Lamb/Bauer/Ovie -> Osi/Bertrand/Marist/Kiser/(Asa?). Huge numbers, Asa would just be the icing. We've got 4* LBs willing to pay their own way for a semester. So much versatility, so much athleticism. Lea effect.
DB-Griffith/Allen/Bracy/Boykin/Brown/Moala -> 5* Kyle/Wallace/Ajavon/Rutherford. I mean, has ND ever had a better two year stretch of DB recruiting. If they have, it was before I was alive.
ST-#2 punter Bramblett and walk on 3* K Leonard. Home run.
Looking ahead, the holes in this roster are minimal. 2020 needs to bring in a difference maker or two at RB. Incredible stuff all around.
'18 recruiting was a disaster at RB. I doubt either of those guys will play meaningful snaps at ND, and the position is the weakest on the roster heading into next year.
RB recruiting has been shit since 2015. 2013 was good too. Since then, meh. CJ Holmes IIRC is the only 90 or higher composite since, and he gone. And he was barely 90. I know stars aren't everything, but they are an indicator, and the trend hasn't been good the last 4 years.
Don't bet against C'Bo.
The top rated prospect that became a ND RB, that was recruited by BK, has never become the best RB of his class. (He inherited Cierre Wood/Theo Riddick from Weis)
Year - Top rated RB prospect --------- Eventual top RB of the class
'18 - Jahmir Smith ----------------------- C'Bo Flemister
'17 - CJ Holmes - Avery Davis ---------- Jafar Armstrong
'16 - Tony Jones -------------------------- Deon McIntosh
'15 - Dexter Williams --------------------- Josh Adams
'14 - None
'13 - Greg Bryant -------------------------- Tarean Folston
'12 - KeiVarae Russell - Will Mahone --- CJ Prosise
'11 - George Atkinson --------------------- Cam McDaniel
'10 - Cameron Roberson
I disagree with most years:
18: too early to tell
17: jafaar wins by default -transfer
16: cant have it both ways . Jones is still here and has contributed more.
15. Imo Dex is the best rb Kelly has had.
13: it’s a push to me
12: again wins by default due to move to defense
11: your right

Pete mentioned in his article or the comment section of his article on the class that he was surprised Denson hasn’t landed a stud RB yet as a coach.
Don't bet against C'Bo.

I like C'Bo more than most. He was insanely productive in HS. Granted it's only AAA, but it is AAA in GA. He's also a pretty decent athlete. Had a 14.7 PR 110 hurdles and had a 45'6 triple jump..
IMO, Dex is hands down the best RB in the BK days, and the best in 2015. He had the same YPC as Josh. In less carries he had the same number of TDs. He was also the lead back in a year where the OL was not even close to what Josh had. Doghouse? Couldn't block? Didn't pick things up until this year?... I don't know what the issues were exactly (why Dex didn't play more earlier), but I think he's certainly the best NFL prospect. Love Josh and the others, but given my choice of drafting any one of them, it's Dex all day.
Don't bet against C'Bo.

What this tells me more than anything is that other than a pair in 2015 we really haven't successfully recruited and developed running backs in almost a decade. Folston and Prosise had their moments, and Tony Jones and McDaniel were serviceable. But the rest of them...
I wouldn't give up on C'Bo or Jafar Armstrong just yet, but neither look ready to be RB1 next year. Really too bad CJ Holmes didn't make it. He was the next man in.

Did you mean could've been? The numbers just aren't there to support him being better. He made his bed and got beat out by the better back... often times by 2 backs.
