Tulane thinks he's ready. They employed him as one this past season.

Tulane is also 64th in the country in rushing offense after being in the top 20 over the previous two years. Glad Watt is having opportunities and he certainly has a promising career, but there ought to be some growth here before he gets a shot at the ND OL job.

True, but their QBs suck, which I'm sure helped contribute to the OL looking bad. Kinda like another team we know before the coaches adjusted things.

Hope I’m wrong but they seem from afar as a worse version of Wisconsin. I gave Wisconsin a slim chance to beat scUM. Iowa? I doubt they score any offensive points.

* - Offensive coordinator
+ - Co-coordinator/run game coordinator/assistant head coach

That's an interesting one. Quick search shows he spent 3 years at Bama and their line was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award each of the 3 years. Apparently he was hired away by Collins who is a friend, to GT which is his alma mater, and given a promotion to AHC/RGC. With the uncertainty surrounding their program, maybe he would be looking for an opportunity to find a more stable position.

Will Hall went to Southern Miss. He was replaced at OC with Chip Long.

For 10-2, they were not very impressive. Wisconsin and Purdue beat them with ease. PSU would have if Clifford was healthy. Some other close wins. Heck, this past weekend Nebraska handed them a win.

I look at Barnett's work leading up to this year with Iowa (Miami OH and Illinois State). From what I know of the guy, he seems like a culture fit for ND, but I that's based on a few snippets and nothing in depth.

Beat writers mentioned that Rees was a key piece in getting Freeman to stay. Perhaps part of the delay in locking up MF was Freeman realizing he had a unique opportunity to bargain for some things.

I'm still not clear on the private jet.

Is this completely new? Not new at all? Or not new but it's historically a hassle and that might change? Ex, Only BK can use it, or they can only use it when available, etc.

Wisconsin fans seem to want him gone. Could be a situation where he is advised to look for other opportunities, in which case OL coach at ND is pretty good.

But do we want a guy who the fans of his current team want to fire? Is it just his coordinating that is bad, but OL play still good?

Rudolph as OL coach would be an amazing hire. Don’t really see any realistic scenario for Rudolph coming. But just because a lot of Wisconsin fans aren’t happy with him doesn’t mean he would be a bad hire. Tennessee fans wanted HH gone. BK knew he was a great coach. HH joins ND and the rest is history.

In the grand scheme of things, does it matter?

The optics are pretty deliberate and not so subtle, too. Neither was the video of Rees addressing the team last night. I'm guessing a lot of what we'll be seeing in the weeks and months ahead will be the same.

I think it's quite clear it matters since you see the big time programs use them constantly, and it's now being made a part of contract negations (ala, Riley to USC).

Can you imagine traveling to recruts who might stiff you in the end when you have wife and kids begging to spend time with you?

I think it matters immensely.

Tommy is using it today. On Monday it wouldn't have happened.

Today's Thursday, though.

It appears that assistant coaches are going to have access. Or at least one will.

Curious what people think should happen with all the talk of a private jet. Are we thinking just the HC at anytime, the HC, OC and DC have one at their leisure or all coaches need access to a PJ for recruiting purposes?

Kelly's contract said only 50 hours of use per year right? That doesn't even seem like that much. Maybe it is when you don't have to leave a 4 state area.

It's a no-brainer for economic reasons. Time is money. To the extent ND needs to fly its employees around the empire recruiting athletes (not just football!), it makes sense to do it on a jet owned by the University so they can get in and out quickly on their own schedule.
