1) I'm not connected to ND like other are on this board
2) I've never been one to enjoy the rumor mill
3) But I gotta take my chance as it's presented to add to the rumors - my source knows Pete Sampson's source and what Pete has been tweeting out regarding coaches to the best of everyone's knowledge is happening. Freeman HC, Tommy OC, Balis S&C..........the only person on my list who I haven't gotten info on is Elston. But on The Shamrock or II, Sampson (I believe) said Elston's family is happy in South Bend and he's unsure he'd actually want to leave.
4) Also noted, but not by Sampson is that Tony Alford was first choice which suggests that Lance Taylor may not be going to LSU either (why would you go down as the bridesmaid?). I'm in favor of keeping as many coaches as ND can. I think general consensus would be ok with letting go of Del Alexander and Jeff Quinn though...right?

I'm sure this info has already been posted, but I just wanted to put in my two cents based on what I've heard.

Good stuff.

I think keeping Elston is a big deal. Make him DC/DL coach with a pay raise for how vital he is to this program. The DL has always been a strength of this team when he's been on the watch. Mickens is young enough that I'm sure he'll understand. Maybe in 2-3 years Elston moves on as a HC then Mickens gets his promotion. Keep O'Leary, I also think he's a rockstar in the making.

Appreciate this.

Small note, in this instance I'm OK keeping Del through signing period then letting him go. The WR room is too dire and we're hanging on by a thread to all 3. Every school does this so if we need to move on from him, you make that after the turn of February IMO. Changing HC's is dirty, position coach is more "aw shucks".

Yeah, I bet the coach and his family feel the same way when they get the boot.

Don't like Elston as a DC. BK has shown he's not against taking swings at different DC's and he's passed on Elston twice. There has to be a reason.

Is it a personal source? An internet source? A professional source? A source of opinion forming within your own logical conclusions?

It's a personal source. He gives me some info and I decided to pass it on. We will see if he's accurate. He told me about Coan starting for the Virginia tech game before it was released and I shared that one. So hes 1 for 1 so far. Lol

Elston is a must keep for D-line IMO. I really don't expect maybe one or two changes after Freeman is announced.

Much different situations. This will be Freeman's defense. Freeman will likely remain play caller. Freeman is already on the field so he'll stay there. Elston stays on the field with O'Leary in the box. Nothing changes. The promotion is more in money and title for his exceptional work.

only concern with keeping everyone is will Freeman feel like he can make the program his own or will it still feel a lil like BK's and hes running the ship?

I understand the logic here, but this is going to be MF'S defensive scheme. I think Elston would be great.

You can keep posting this over and over because it reads like a fanfiction.

Imagine JOK menacingly pacing outside of Swarbrick's office, threatening to tackle anyone who mentions anyone for HC other than Freeman a la Terry Tate.

I know both are OSU alums, but is there any connection between Hartline and Freeman? Would love to piss in some buckeye cheerios, even though the odds of that happening are slim.

Morgan Freeman is older and experienced. They should hire him for quality control.

I'm with you. Screw the retreads. That's Alabama's thing and it obviously works for them. They run things like a pro team and it is very successful. I'm actually hoping a Freeman/Rees combo would make Notre Dame "cool" again. Let's let it fly. Play aggressive both on O and D. Be creative. Run some trick plays, blitz the shit out of everyone. I honestly think that's a path to reaching the next level. Old school Boise State on steroids (I'm not opposed to literally being on steroids).

Small tidbit. Sounds like Terry Joesph will be the new safety coach at LSU. Mickens staying. Another Freeman cue.

No offense to him but dude is failing upwards. No part of Texas D from this year deserves what is likely more than than he currently is getting

Reminds me of the classic 2007 Dillon Hall Pep Rally sketch, Mo Crum: Quad Linebacker. Also featured that year, "du Lac in a Box." Topical.

Was Joseph pushed out or did he leave of his own volition when he wasn't considered for the DC job?
