For brevity’s sake, all today did was prove:

Denbrock sucks. Ash can’t gameplan. Mike Brown doesn’t understand how to utilize his talent.

Quietly, and somehow, Joe Rudolph has built a pretty decent OL unit.

Jaylen Sneed played a solid game. Ausberry was above average. Rodney Dunham flashed.

I’m solidly putting this on the coaching. I think @thekid33 said it in the game thread, but the 2H defense just played totally different. Downhill. Attacking. I’d put a Benjamin on Freeman having taken the reins. Just a totally different style of play.

Hope we didn’t lose a couple guys for the season. That’ll be key.

Onto Miami. Please, coordinators. Don’t fuck this up.

First half was a joke, but per usual we made the proper second half adjustments. Just wish we would make adjustments on the fly and not at halftime.

Loved seeing more Jonaz Walton, as well as Jerome Bettis Jr. Justifiably so it looks like A. Williams has been demoted to RB3.

Onto Miami.

My only hot take is that it reminds me of the Purdue game from last year where Ash head his head up his ass -> Freeman was animated in the halftime interview with common sense stuff about how the defense was being called -> then stuff "magically" started getting better.

Only prayer ND has against Miami is to have Freeman have a heavy hand in how they gameplan and how the game is called.

My silver lining on the day is Aneyas Williams getting fully taken out of the RB rotation, and obviously Bettis did some good stuff, but besides that it was pretty dreadful.

We can’t play soft or waste drives against Miami. I rely on all yall for perspective when we have struggles & anxiety Rudy takes over the brain. So with that in mind I do ask, was the first half an anomaly or something that we may not be able to fix this week? I really want to know how you guys feel objectively about what we can do to stand a chance with just how good Miami seems to be.

They gave up 13 in the first half. Held them scoreless in the second half. Played without many key contributors. “Played poorly” and won by 22. It’s also only 3 pm. I’m going to keep drinking and steal candy from kids basket tonight.

I don't think it makes much sense for MF to formally take over defensive play calls, but I guess he needs to play a larger role in shaping the game plan. It took too long last season and cost us. I'm hopeful but would be surprised if we win next week.

CJ just doesn't seem to be as sharp as you would want/expect.
Hope we have some players back, we will need them. Bowen didn't look good when he left.
Playing Navy is a pain, nothing really gained.

1. Sneed has a great attitude, it shows everytime he makes a tackle, it needs to rub off on the rest of the defense
2. Clark Lea preached halftime adjustments- ND made adjustments
3. More of Walton and Premer on offense, Walton does a great job running the ball up the middle
4. Bettis Jr.- 1st TD, wish Burress got his
5. More of Dunham on defense
6. The DC is more of problem than the OC, make Freeman the DC next week vs Miami
7. Love the respect this rivalry has

Plenty to criticize but I’ll focus on the opponent. As Jamie U posted during the game,

i already dread the injury report. Imagine all the chop blocks we missed in real time. I continue to fail to see any benefit to scheduling them unless it’s in Week 0 from here on out. Debt is paid in full.

1H O, they scored 3x, yes, but it felt, idk, disjointed? Off? The 3 and out was incredible, as in, I couldn't believe the gameplan to that point.

Clearly Denbrock saw Navy was bad v the pass all season and wanted to exploit that, but holy fuck it was a slog to make work. And the 1H wr usage and targets still sucked ass.

Last 2 mins of 1H and 2H was better in every way
