We know the bags that Oregon are dropping are enormous but this is getting crazy… they’re about to land DJ Pickett and Dakorean Moore in the next couple days. That’ll give them 3 5 star pick ups in a week, and they seemingly came out of nowhere in both these recruitments, especially on Moore where Texas was the heavy favorite for the last couple of months

Should make for an interesting signing day then. We’ve seen this recruiting strategy fail before.

Hopefully this has no impact on Hines.

Wonder if this changes the math on Hines if Texas pivots and pushes more for him now that Moore is a duck.

I've enjoyed the hell outta visiting Eugene every time I've been there, but that's a culture shock for these southern athletes. Be interested to see if the bag can keep them there for 3 years.

Ugh. When Phil Knight decided to be a megadonor to his alma mater and doormat program in the 90s…now it’s a sound business decision to buy athletes and use them as teenage billboards.

Sporting good companies like Nike with a team competing for exposure and interest in their select demographic for new customers is akin to many analogies most would frown upon. To throw one out there: Phizer memorial hospital competing with say Cleveland clinic for doctors and patients.

Just perusing the Rivals rankings — it really is absurd that OSU currently has 7 commitments ranked higher than our highest ranked commit (Burgess). I like our class a lot, but OSU is just crushing everyone right now. Thankfully, they don’t develop talent outside of WR and Oline, so it’s just a talent mirage. As an OSU grad and resident of the Columbus area for the past two decades, I have never understood the appeal of OSU for elite football players, and I don’t think I ever will.

When did we flip Shanklin? He’s on the Bayou last I heard.

I’m surprised we don’t have more interest from higher rated WRs with Deuce in the class..

I can only assume the biggest divas in football don’t want to go to class? Lol

A little on-field WR production will likely go a long way. Looking at what ND has done at wideout the past several years does not inspire confidence. Until there is evidence that this offense can light it up, I don’t think there is a lot to help convince a kid who wants to play on Sundays that South Bend is the place to be. I suspect we’ll have more traction with recruits next cycle.

DI Council approves changes to notification-of-transfer windows in basketball, football - NCAA.org

Officially down to 30 days, but keeping two windows from end of season and end of spring.

In both the Football Championship Subdivision and the Football Bowl Subdivision, the notification-of-transfer windows will be a total of 30 days spread over two windows. The first window will open the Monday after the FBS conference championship weekend for 20 days, and the second window will open in the spring for 10 days. For the 2024-25 academic year, the windows will be open Dec. 9-28 and April 16-25.

Just a question to those that still watch recruiting religiously (that was me 1993-2008). Between the transfer portal and clear signs of the inefficiency of ratings do you find a level of disconnect between the results and performance growing? I was always told that some of the 3 stars would be 4 or 5 if they did camps and that there were many hidden gems among the 3 star world.

Probably best for one of the analytics guys to answer, but I believe it’s been proven that 5 star guys pan out at a higher rate than 4 and 3 star guys. It’s been said that the top 50 recruits is pretty accurate, 51-200 can really be in any order, and 201 to 2000 is a crap shoot. Just look at the NFL draft each year. Tons of guys that weren’t highly recruited.

Cash money homie. Some judge blew it all up. There really needs to be a salary cap for some semblance of parity.

He wanted to know who the OL coach was because he was extremely tight with Atkins. Bags were going to be enormous regardless of school.

Interestingly, the very top of the sport probably does have a bit more parity. The top 3 classes this year (row 21) were actually below average than they have been recently, though 4-12 were above average. It seems like the top-50 and top-150 kids might be spreading themselves out a bit more.

Shady AF and not what I expect with CFB. I can see me walking away if they continue down this path.
