Thought this was interesting:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Oregon&src=hash">#Oregon</a> head coach Mark Helfrich: "We let recruits pick their position." <a href="http://t.co/45pvRaLn1f">http://t.co/45pvRaLn1f</a></p>— Chris Vannini (@CoachingBuzz) <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachingBuzz/statuses/458583601152397313">April 22, 2014</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Mark Helfrich on position changes: “We always tell guys, in recruiting, ‘You can start wherever you want to.’ Guys come in, and they’re going to have more confidence doing what they think is best. They’re going to be more comfortable. Usually, it’s a year cycle. You go through a fall, you go through a spring, and there are 27 DBs and one tailback. Do you want to go compete for that job? We leave that totally up to them in recruiting. Once they’re here, it’s kind of the same thing. This kid’s maybe put on some weight or whatever changes have happened or there are injuries and try to find an opportunity to get everybody involved.”

I would not hold my breathe on Lewis making it to T Town. We haven't had much success in Miss with their top recruits... I been telling them our bag man needs to be replaced. Our money doesn't seem to go too far in the Magnolia State.

Your bag man isn't bartering with the right stuff! Here in 'Tha Sip', if you wanna bribe someone, you gotta have chickens, store bought cooking oil, new/still on the roll barb wire (or as it's known down here, bobwire), or if they are in the mood for romance, a goat! That should help your bag man tremendously!

Reps, mon frère! Maybe the funniest thing I have seen all day, or at least since the lastest time I been to the Sip!

Big loss for OrangeBloods, imo. While universally hated by UT fans (because they're idiots)the guy has been dead nuts on his reporting. He was first on the scene with Mack retiring, Saban' interest in UT, conference realignment, Longhorn Network, Patterson becoming ASU's AD and a ton of college football news outside of Texas as well.

I wonder where he's going? Maybe I should write a letter to 247, asking them to replace Loy with him. :)

edit - Homerun hire for Scout.

Any idea what scout/rivals/247 sports analysts get paid? I have zero info but would guess around 40K.

There was a listing on Glassdoor for a Rivals recruiting editor that put it at about 4K/month. Not sure how close that is to the analysts, but they can't make too much considering Sapp had to give it up for a job in sales.

Depends on the guy, and I'm sure it's WAY more than that for some.

If you're a lead guy for a big team that draws tons of eyeballs and subs I'm sure you make pretty good money. For example, the MSU 247 team site (good representation of a "meh" major team) gets darn near 300k unique visitors I think. And that's an old number, probably more now. Let's assume that of that 300k they have 10k subscriptions.

10k subs at $10/month = $1.2/year revenue not counting ad traffic or anything else. Then assume that bout 80% of that is going to 247/overhead. You've got about $300k for staffers... and most sites have 3-5 guys.

All of these numbers are imaginary, but suffice to say I think "top" analysts for a major team site make between $60k-$120k. Big dogs like Wiltfong probably make somewhere between $80k-$150k.

And Brown is a big dog. To be sure, Scout is shelling out some coin to grab him.

Agree w/wooly, big loss for OB. Dude knows what's up in Austin (and elsewhere).

You would know more than me about this but I find it hard to believe any of these guys make much more than 80K. $80K is a very high salary for a job that doesn't require a graduate degree or special license. I think you are overestimating the amount of subscribers they have and/or the amount allocated to the actual employees.

Like I said, no info, but I think those estimations are high.

How Bama doesn't beat every team by 40 is beyond me. They're on track to land what... their fourth consecutive number one class?

I actually think USC gets the top class this year. It will be a battle between USC and Bama.

Ya I really went out on a limb with McKenzie. I think we get Cornell, great shot with Wilkins and Roseboro if we can get him on campus.

@TG__7: I will be announcing my commitment tomorrow

Teammate of the kid that committed to SC, would be a great start to recruiting for Sark to get two of the top kids from GA.

Ledbetter, why?

Been a lot of off the record talk for a while that he was considering other schools. Nothing concrete but at this point the general consensus is that he won't stay committed to us. He has gotten friendly with Auburn and right now they seem to be the biggest threat to flip him. Who really knows at the end of the day?

Not sure you guys really have to worry, you'll get somebody else. I've like what I've seen from him so far.
