My local Flix Brewhouse is having a showing of Halloween 1978 on Monday the 14th.....

Mind:
" It's a Monday during a very busy work week"...
"You've seen this movie three dozen times dawg"...
"You have this movie on like five different special editions at home, save your money"....
"FLIX is expensive dude"...

Me: (buys tickets) "Shut up loser, we're going to watch Halloween at the draft-house."

I miss this. We had a great supper club that showed The Exorcist, Halloween and a few other rotating oldies like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St., etc. But with the local proliferation of recliner/eat/drink chain theatres, they just went back to their corporate catering roots.

Some of the local recliner chains are planning midnight shows, triple headers for Halloween. Hopefully The Exorcist and Rocky Horror fit into my schedule this year. I'm due for an Exorcist viewing for a reminder of what's out there waiting.

I have never done a classic/holiday/seasonal/whatever movie at a major theater before but our Brewhouse is super nice. Much nicer than any other new age eat and rink theater I've been to. It's more a nice pub/restaurant with a half dozen theaters in the back than a theater that serves food and beer. I dig it and i have a soft spot for Halloween 78. Date night for sure.

Joker is incredible. Joaquin Phoenix has to be a lock for an Oscar nom. He's absolutley captivating.

I'd love to see DC do more of these stand alone hard R villain stories. A Riddler, or Heart of Ice Mr Freeze would both be awesome. The possibilities are really endless.

I watched American Beauty tonight. Spacey is an awesome actor and Mena Suvari was very good. Weird movie though. Definitely some messed up characters, but a great watch.

Wife downloaded "Rocketman" a few weeks ago. I've always respected the music of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. The movie had a "musical" quality that at first I was certain I would not enjoy.

I was wrong. I thought it was very well done and appreciated both the music and the story. It's not similar to Bohemian Rhapsody yet kind of the same... if that makes any sense.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

Oh yeah. Best movie I have seen in many years. It did not sell out at all.

Joaquin - 5 star performance. I don't care what the Oscars say about it.

I watched ten minutes of it and turned it off because of the "musical" factor. Maybe I need to give it another chance.

It's one of my favorite movies. Some of the best characters ever.

I watched Pretty Baby for the first time tonight. I can't believe I'd never seen it before. Good story and great scenery & costumes. Brooke Shields has to be the prettiest kid that ever lived. Her nude scenes were a bit weird to watch, given her age, but tastefully and artistically done. I liked this movie more than I thought I would. Definitely worth the watch.

Avoid "Widows". Cast and story had a chance to be really good, but I found myself bored.

Watched Shazam and Aquaman on my flight back from Orlando yesterday. The former was fun, but the latter was really bad. Warner Brothers needs to stop trying to Feigify the DC universe, because they suck at it.

Saw Fighting with the Family... last movie I went into with that low of expectations and came away thinking, "That was actually a good movie" like that was The Social Network. I def wasn't prepared for it being above average all told... lol

Watched Joker with the wife on Saturday. She loved it. I thought it was a little slow up until the last 15 minutes. Was one of those movies that made you think afterwards of our messed up society a little bit.

Save the $25 and watch it on rental

I watched Joker last night and thought it was brilliant. There was so much thought put into character development. You can't go into the movie thinking this is another action packed super hero movie with a bunch of classic Joker antics because it's not that type of movie. The plot is so good that it doesn't even NEED to be about Joker and it would still be impactful. Every scene is a piece of art IMO. I'm going to see it a 2nd time, that cast and crew earned every penny of the ticket price plus the outrageous snack bar prices.

I saw Ad Astra last night. Pretty dang good. Slow paced, great cinematography, not the normal sci-fi flick either.

I watched Empire Of The Sun last night. I really enjoyed it and thought it was one of Spielberg's best directing jobs. I didn't realize the movie was as old as it is (1987) and kept thinking the kid in it looked a lot like Christian Bale... and then realized it WAS Bale at the age of 12. Dude had serious acting chops even then.

Always loved that movie... the "Cadillac of the Sky" scene is flat out great. Malkovich and Joe Pantoliano with memorable performances too.

Always a big fan of Bale. I haven't liked all of his movies, but when he clicks into a certain role, he's fantastic. American Psycho was incredible. One of those WTF movies and performances.

So many good moments and lines in that movie.

I love when he talks music. Funny AF. Makes me want to break out Huey Lewis and Genesis. Probably my favorite line is the one about Ed Gein.

He reportedly based the character in manic moments on Tom Cruise's behavior during interviews. It's really interesting to watch the movie with that in mind.

Excellent film one of my favorite character studies.

Good stuff Grey. Very interesting lol. I thought I had heard he based some of it on Cage. Did you know that Edward Norton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Depp, and Ewan McGregor all were wanted for the lead role before Bale. IIRC they didn't think Bale was big enough.

Going to move that up my list. I watched Apocalypse Now Redux last weekend, and was going to do Full Metal Jacket next. Might have to swap that out.

Saw the Lighthouse last night. Wow not even sure how I feel about this one. Very strange, almost in a mesmerizing way. If you have any interest in seeing it I'd strongly recommend seeing it in theater, I don't think it will translate well to being watched at home on a TV.

I'm very excited about this one. The Witch was excellent.

I really wanted to see this tonight but couldn't find a showing that worked for my buddy and I. Instead we're gonna go see Parasite.

That wasn't Bale's idea. Bret Easton Ellis explicitly based Bateman's character on Cruise when he was writing the book. There's actually a scene in the book where Bateman meets Cruise in an elevator, as they both live in the same apartment complex.
