This. I'm surprised how informed Tirico has been, it's like he's actually doing his job and researching the teams. There were at least two points Tirico made about the team that the average sportscaster wouldn't have known last night. He's only been covering the Irish for a short time too, that's what's so impressive. I wish I could recall the facts he brought up, but it was beyond what anyone else would bring to the table. It made me think "How did he know that? That's the kind of stuff only fans know." He didn't make any outlandish claims like "Bennet Jackson is the best corner for the Irish." As they say, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." It's sad that this is just a short time gig, Tirico is destined for bigger things, but at least we get to enjoy his professionalism for a few games.
Seriously, Flutie needs to get the fuck out. Would definitely like to have Mayock back, and probably would take Haden back too despite him being another opponent in the booth. For all his USC ties, Haden was pretty bland and unbiased when he was on NBC. He was better than Flutie at any rate.
