Why does the heavy anti-Lebron argument in the GOAT debate always come from someone who seems eager to offer up that they haven't watched basketball in roughly a decade (or more)? It's such a weird defining characteristic of the LeBron GOAT debate specifically. I've read so many similar comments that I was even thinking while reading Nimbus' comment "soon he's gonna say he stopped watching the NBA years ago aaaaand there it is."
I said I haven't watched a full game since 2019. I can watch about a quarter and a half before I just can't anymore. And I've tried several times. I just cant stand how the game is officiated and played these days. I grew up playing the game and then coached high school. But I guess I'm not allowed to have an opinion.

The whole goat debate in the NBA is weird. I've never seen hockey fans today say that Gretzky couldn't play in today's game. Or that Connor McDavid would score 300 points in the 80s. Based off of the fundamentals of basketball, lebron kinda sucks. He's probably the best pure athlete I've ever seen though. But the guy can't even dibble properly. But then again, no one dribbles properly now.

Why would I waste my time arguing with someone who says that "Lebron kinda sucks?" My time would be better spent debating my dog. I don't personally love him, but he's absolutely in the GOAT debate

All the energy spent arguing MJ vs LeBron would be better spent laughing at people who think Kobe is even in the discussion.

Holy shit. He's a great player that relied on his otherworldly athleticism. That coved up his faults. IN MY OPINION. Maybe get your dog to read this. Maybe they'll actually understand differing points of view.

Why are you getting so defensive? It's weird.
Being defensive over being compared to a dog and the goat debate are two different things. My lebron comments were just my opinion. You can have yours. Have a good night.

LeBron is easily the GOAT. The greatest player to ever touch a basketball.

I will gladly sit down and watch a 90's game with anyone and have them try and explain how MJ was a better player than LeBron. I promise you, it is not possible.

You're right the game is unrecognizable. Without illegal defense to open up lanes and big men that force you to have to rotate defensively like crazy. More skilled players across the WORLD than ever before. You're right. Totally different game today.

I haven't watched a basketball game in seven years. These are my opinions about basketball.

Agree the GOAT argument is dumb though. Jordan's probably the one but LeBron, Kobe, Magic, Larry, they're all great in their own ways and defined the game in their different eras. The real crime is that we now forget about Bill Russell. Dude was a stone cold killer.
Bill Russell never could win the GOAT argument because he Wilt Chamberlain with most of those gaudy stats in the mirror.

This whole conversation is so disrespectful. All this back and forth between Jordan and MJ and not one single mention of the real goat, TJ Ford. He at least desrves to be in the conversation

Coach Free got bootlicked to #20 on the list. He once lost a football game to Marshall and Northern Illinois. He also terrorizes youth wrestling coaches in his community. They're building a ballroom for them in Hammond next to the new Bears stadium.

I'm going to bet Dabo has no interest in or being on SNL. Don't know it for a fact, just know that it is true.
I would agree with this, but I'd bet he be willing to whine about Marcus being on it given the nbc affiliation as Philly noted.

Whiners love shit to whine about, even when they have no interest in doing said shit.

I live in the heart of Clemson nation. Dabo is feeling the heat BIG TIME. The people are done with the whole idea of having to drag him kicking and screaming into the portal and NIL era. He's an old man yelling at the trees in his yard now. If they aren't in the hunt for the ACC title and a good chance to ADVANCE in the playoffs, he might be done. All the Bible thumping and baptisms on the practice field become very irrelevant down here when you aren't competing for championships.

He had a hell of a run from 2015-2019.

If it's his decision not to play ball in the current era and the administration is willing to back him, either he has to adapt or they have to bring in someone who will.

I think if Clemson is willing to play ball in the new era, that job would certainly be coveted. Even if Clemson lands somewhere else in the next round of conference realignment, Dabo has made that a good enough job.

I'm generalizing and stereotyping here, but I don't get the sense that the Clemson alumni base has deep pockets.

Outside of just Dabo, it’s pretty crazy how much NIL has exposed some of the “powerhouses” down south.

The $50k and a sports car doesn’t do anything anymore. Some of them come off as broke bitches now. I’m very happy with how Notre Dame has approached NIL, and is a top dog in the NIL food chain when they want to be.

I dont think they really do. It doesnt have a large alumni base to begin with. Its only got about 20K more living alumni than Notre Dame. I found that surprising but apparently Clemson's enrollment is much higher than it used to be. Thats great for future alumni spending but thats a decade or two from paying dividends.

Its in a smallish state and has a state flagship to fight with for fans, funding, etc. That doesnt seem ideal.
