Rasputin also solve short form nickname for you. Go with BMF. For Badass MF.

Was excellent in his interview on the selection show. After he signed off, Kirk said he’s known him since he was a high school football player and that you will not find a bette person… and that in recruiting “Notre Dame’s brand is about is about to change in a big way.”

Sorry, I missed out somewhere in all these different threads. What does MFMF actually relate to (I have an idea, but not totally sure)?

Watching all the interviews this weekend made it abundantly clear what is really going to change with ND football. BK never fully bought into the ND experience. All the unique traits that ND has as a university and football program were always seen as obstacles or challenges in his eyes. MFMF sees them as the advantages that they really are. He embraces what makes ND special and will convey that to the world - and especially recruits. This truly is a new era for ND football and I am really excited about it.

Or, he couldn’t develop elite quarterback play.

Or, he couldn’t develop elite quarterback play.

This. Kelly sucked at evaluating and recruiting QBs. He started out poorly by whiffing on Bubba Starling (who would ultimately go play baseball) and then had a poor evaluation of Gunner Kiel (who he lost to LSU then got back) before adding Malik Zaire (couldn’t throw the ball) and DeShone Kizer. Kizer was the one QB with NFL traits but didn’t have NFL accuracy.

He the landed an elite recruit in Wimbush who wasn’t accurate, but I at least respect that signing. Ian Book was a contingency plan where they decided to go steal an undersized QB that Leach had scouted for them. Smart move. Jurkovec was a trash evaluation and never should’ve been recruited. Clark was a lowly rated prospect who then got injured. Pyne does not have NFL measurables. And then they opted for Buchner over McCarthy.

It is nothing but bad evaluations and busts for a decade and you have to pray they got it right with Buchner. The bigger issue is that they aren’t even competing most years for top rated, high upside players and I don’t know how you change that given their track record of failures.

Genuine question: does it then follow that you have serious concerns about Tommy as OC?

I always looked at Tommy as Kelly's protege, and he hasn't had much coaching experience outside of South Bend. I've said before that I'm not convinced the QB situation changes under him for those reasons. I hope my concerns turn out to be unwanted.

Agree with this except I think Jurkovec was a very good recruit. It went fubar here after (blame goes to everyone to different degrees depending on who you believe), but I think he’s good. He was never going to be Lawrence or Fields, but he was more talented than most others. I do believe in Buchner and think he will be good. The guy has played one full year of football in high school and has a scaled back playbook to run here. He’s going to make mistakes. Hopefully a lot of those (pick 6 against VT for instance on a bad decision/throw) are being made and learned from this season.

/Lights

Marcus Freeman enters stage left and storms into the QB recruit's house without knocking. He abruptly places Jim Harbaugh, who is currently visiting the country's top QB recruit and his family, into a headlock. Harbaugh immediately faints with glee as he clearly enjoys being asphyxiated...usually by inferior men.

"You can sign spend four years learning to sit and pee with this loser", pointing to Harbaugh's limp figure lying in the fetal position, "or you can grow a pair like these at Notre Dame."

Freeman swiftly clears the family's keepsakes off the coffee table and places his nuts on it.

In a moment of clarity, the top QB recruit realizes the error of his ways and, nearly weeping and fighting back his embarrassment, looks up at Marcus Freeman.

Faintly, "I'm not throwing away my shot" from Hamilton can be heard in the distance, but sung by someone with more testosterone than Lin-Manual Miranda, who has a female name.

The top QB recruit looks Freeman in the eyes and says, "Coach Freeman, teach me to be a QB and a warrior."

Freeman meets the recruit's eyes and replies, "Son, sign right here."

The QB recruit immediately signs his LOI and climbs into the Notre Dame helicopter, and is whisked back to South Bend where he will deliver upon Beano Cook's prophecy of two Heisman trophies.

A spotlight shines on Harbaugh. He is still laying lifeless on the living room floor, he has both urinated and deficated his khakis. Upon closer observation, it is clear from the residual stain marks on his pants that this is a frequent occurrence for Harbaugh.

The QB recruit's 10 year old sister can be seen kicking Harbaugh's head repeatedly as the lights fade to black.

I am not necessarily talking about how successful BK was as a coach at ND, I am talking about the perception that was openly out there. BK did very well here and I was mostly happy with the way the program grew under his leadership. It didn't really dawn on me how different the perception of Notre Dame could be nationally until watching MF this weekend on the interview tour. MF is bringing an energy to ND that hasn't been here in a while. I hope his ability to run a program is as good ad his initial impression has been.

MFMF was just on Dan Patrick. Easy to see why people gravitate to him. Very honest and genuine. Worth listening to if you get the chance.

I actually really liked that he said he couldn't root against Cincinnati even with an ND playoff trip on the line. He loves those guys that he coached with and he developed genuine relationships with them. He seems like an honest, earnest, and upfront guy who genuinely cares for those he recruits and coaches. You can't fake that.

We got a rock star and I'm so pleased.

Age could be a factor here. Freeman is like 12 years younger than when Kelly took the job here. But Kelly simply refusing just to stop by schools when he was in the region in nuts. But QB it a huge issue and if that doesn't change you could see some of the same issues.

Should be interesting to see if Rees was following orders to a decree of if he was on his own.
