Signature win
He is the #1 receiver with or without Daniels next year IMO
I agree it was pretty apparent that LSU was starting to figure out the read option and Zaire can't push the ball down field as well as Golson. Zaire played extremely well but IMO (this may not be popular) this was more about gameplan than it was Zaire being the better overall QB.
Zaire proved he is capable of leading the offense. However, we will have to wait until next year to see if he is capable of pushing the ball down field as well as Golson. He wasn't asked to throw long, and until he is asked to do that we can only speculate as to how well he might do. What we do know is that Zaire has proven his ability to move the ball against a tough defense, and at least for one game he did it without a turnover. I, for one, would rather have 100 yards passing and a "W" than 400 yards passing, four turnovers, and a loss. Zaire deserves a "real" chance to be the starter next year. Let's hope Kelly gives him that opportunity.
Agreed. Threw the ball beautifully. Accurate, on time, and with velocity to the right guy.
We really needed this win. The momentum it generated will be crucial in helping us hold this recruiting class together.
Kelly is now the only NDFB coach in school history to win at least 8 games during each of his first 5 seasons. And he's done it during a period when it's harder than ever before to win at ND. Spell it with me now: E-L-I-T-E.
It'll be a very interesting spring for those two. Golson's a better passer. Zaire's a better runner. But both are reasonably good at the other, good enough that if one can get a handle on the other half of their game, he has a good chance to be pretty special.
ELITE does not lose five games every year but one.
In fewer games, LOU was much more elite. So was Ara. So was Leahy. Certainly Rockne.
Kelly finally got out the way for most of the game and actually called a game that gave the D the relief it needed. Too bad he never thought about it, you know, weeks ago?
Far from elite. Good, yes. Great, at times. Elite? Not Even Close.

On the scoreboard page of tigerdroppings they are calling for Miles to go....
Blaming him for the QB situation in a lot of posts.
Of all the fan sayings, this is the worst one. Just a complete disrespect for the game plan and play calling.
The point is that he KNEW that was the gameplan he needed to call for weeks, but Kelly gamplans to sling it 30 times a game or more.
He gameplanned well for THIS ONE GAME. Two great gameplans this year. The rest were mediocre to awful.
FSU was the other game that was similarly gameplanned and was ND's second best game of the year. IOW, ND ran the ball 25x or more and won the TOP. It may not be flashy like Kelly wants, but it works better than any other formula. Just look at Bama. They are run heavy but efficient passing too. Just not that hard to see it works better than anything else, for an entire season.
We should have been more of a run-heavy team all year long, honestly.
Less explosive, but probably ten wins if he did that. That is what I meant. And it was not dumb, because he routinely gameplans to minimize the running game, even when it is our strength. Last season he was not SOOO pass-heavy, ND went onto 12 wins. It is NOT a coincidence.
This is glorious: Anyone else believe that our Tigers will destroy ND today? | TigerDroppings.com
About 20% of their board thought it'd be close, and 80% thought they'd destroy ND.
I bet if you polled our board, you probably would've gotten similar numbers. Surprised a lot of people to say the least... me being one of them.
I know I might get creamed for saying this. But, I've been dissapointed with Corey Robinson since the ASU game, a lot of drops

Has a broken hand. Sooooo many drops... think he'll have that corrected next year though.
So, all my LSU buddies are throwing that botched fake field goal call as the reason they lost. Or at least they should have won any way. I have started getting in texts with pics of the kickers knee above the ground and the ball over the goalline. Must have gotten 25 texts last night. Late last night. And this morning.
It was a very close call. Could've gone either way imo. Had they overturned it and ND lost, we'd all be bitching about losing a game on another blown call. You win some, you lose some. The football gods evened the pot yesterday for ND. I'll take it.

Meh. Not elite, but good. I believe he has potential to be elite, but he hasn't done it yet. Elite means best, and he has not proven to be the best at anything yet.
