smile brother. don't get peeved tonight. way too much to be happy about right now.

I'm very pleased tonight. But that peeve goes back to when I lived in Oregon, and those jackwagons used to talk about playing ranked teams. I would hear "Well, Team X is ranked #26!" <--- because they were the first team in "Others receiving votes". It was so bad that even the newspaper (The Oregonian) would sometimes refer to a team as "#28 Fresno State" in their articles. It was freaking ridiculous.

BVG will need to work on getting D ready for hurry-up.... every time it was run today on the D-Line they had issues. When LSU subbed-out and the Irish subbed late (to slow down the tempo of the hurry-up) the D played better.

i thought this place would be jumpin...pretty quiet tonight
Losing brings the trolls out in full force. When we win they go away. I didn't post for the most part (other than the Lounge) because I was pissed at BK and the state of the program and didn't want to make a complete fool of myself. I'll admit I thought we were going to lose, possibly in blow out fashion. Losing to Northwestern hit me really hard.

This was just the Music City Bowl so I don't want to make too big a deal of it but this win might be the biggest win of the BK era. Beating a ranked SECw team in SEC country in a bowl game is huge for our recruiting and our national perception. Getting blown out would have been very harmful for us coming off a 4 game losing streak. A loss today would have been really demoralizing consider the myopic state of ND nation recently. This win was a nice boost for the program and for the fanbase haha. We won in solid fashion too, this wasn't a fluky victory at all. We over powered, out gained, and out scored the best defense in the SEC all while dominating ToP.

Today was "good BK" as far as playcalling goes. When BK is on he is a top 5 playcaller in the country. I think having MZ in there is good for him in that he's not tempted to sling the ball 45 times a game no matter the context. I have a feeling MZ will be the starter next season but we haven't seen the last of EG. He may play a role similar to Tommy in 2012.

I thought it was a damn well played game by our Irish today. Very proud of how this team came to play as a team and take care of business! Yes, LSU is a very one dimensional team, who cannot throw the ball to save their lives, and yes we fave up some big plays, however, as porous as the defense has been against the run, our S's did a damn fine job, I thought. They really were great in run support, and made some big open field tackles. Fournette is an absolute horse to bring down, and our two safeties were there alot tonight either first,or in support. Max got lost a couple of times, but hell, he was there more often than he wasn't and I'll take it in a game against the mighty SEC.

Beat someone we "shouldnt have". Team played very composed with few penalties and no turnovers. SEC tears taste delicuous, mostly complaining about the refs. Babies. Very, very satisfying win.

It seems like some of you may be down playing golsons effect on the game. No way we get down the field without him on that last drive.

Agreed. Threw the ball beautifully. Accurate, on time, and with velocity to the right guy.

Favorite play...Zaire's hand off to Procise and Procise takes it to the house. Who's the first teammate to get to Procise after he scored? Zaire! It was epic!

Oh yeah...The block Zaire thru to get Folston into the endzone was a close second!

Go Irish!

Had to work a 7-to-7 today, I had to shut my phone off the whole day to avoid updates or texts.
Just finished watching and I'm extremely happy with how we played. After we got our usual delay of game/timeout out of our system on the first offensive possession, we looked great.
Would have loved for us to take the field goal on the second 4th down attempt but luckily it didn't bite uss in the rear.

Great win and great momentum going into next year.
We REALLY needed that win.

I agree it was pretty apparent that LSU was starting to figure out the read option and Zaire can't push the ball down field as well as Golson. Zaire played extremely well but IMO (this may not be popular) this was more about gameplan than it was Zaire being the better overall QB.

Am I the only one that loves watching Fuller run routes? Kid is sharp as a razor.

I'm so proud how our guys showed up and won. It was a great Irish victory versus a very good LSU team. I really never thought we'd have a chance to hang in there, but Notre Dame played so physical, unlike how they played the entire year.

I thought the OLine played magnificent, easily the best all season. I've lost quite a bit of faith in Golson but that win couldn't have happened without his help on the final drive. Not sure what Kelly will decide for starting QB next season, but I think there is a chance he will go with 2 like he's done before.

I'd like to say that I believed the entire time and when the matchup was first announced, I said ND has a chance and it's actually a good matchup for them.

Love it. Epic win. Perfect momentum.

He is the #1 receiver with or without Daniels next year IMO

While I agree it's pretty disappointing to have your #1 drop first downs. He's dropped first downs in a a majority of the last 5-6 games. He has to eliminate that in order to take the next step.

Damn good win.

Good game by both QB's but damn good on Golson that last drive.

What a noble concept, stick with the running game, no turnovers and ND wins.

Anyone who thinks this guy is not a top 3-5 coach in the country is delirious. Also props to Golson for his unselfish lead and to Malik for the performance. One of them will be the leader needed next year. Maybe a 2 way deal could be worked out. Both bring a lot to the table. It was great to see the hitting and standing up to an sec bully. This will go a long way for next year-no joke this win was large for next year. As we all know I thought LSU would smoke my Irish but after 10 minutes into the game it was like the Stanford game this year-Notre Dame was the better team and it showed. If they can play better defense next year it could be interesting because Kelly will put up points and direct offense as good as anybody. College guys beat sec minor league pros-you go college boys-Go Irish!

Yeah, well you weren't the one who said ND would roll.

I was thinking earlier about any "bigger" wins that BK has had. Obviously, winning at OU in 2012 was massive. Apart from that, I think this is clearly the most impressive win of the BK era (and might even be more impressive than OU). Wins over Michigan and USC always feel good, but this win was a respect-gainer I hope. And hopefully a big confidence builder heading into next season. We can play with just about anyone when we play a smart game.

I complete agree with this statement. Also Zaire can't push the ball down the field like Golson is what you meant.

That's a great point, and maybe not just yet, but will he be able to next year is the real question? Competition will do this team alot of good.

Watching now. Took the family to the Belk Bowl today, only caught pieces at the bar before the game started. I'm happy as hell to end this season on a high note.

I do think Golson should start next year, with packages for Zaire especially in the red zone.

It'll be a very interesting spring for those two. Golson's a better passer. Zaire's a better runner. But both are reasonably good at the other, good enough that if one can get a handle on the other half of their game, he has a good chance to be pretty special.
