His politics (which are shared by many ND students, including athletes, and many people in SB/Indiana generally) should not matter to whether he has a statue. He has a statue because he won a title.

ND's administration/public relations department does not need to weigh in with a "statement" on every event in the world.

This is how Marxism/Communism works, or Fascism for that matter. Someone disagrees with you then they should be silenced. It is such an anti-American mindset. I have little tolerance for this intolerant mindset that is promoted by people who think they are tolerant all the while.

Some of ya'll are soft. People are so invested in the messed up politics in this country they let it affect their perception of others, even if their background or career has nothing to do with politics. I don't necessarily agree with Bruce Springsteen's positions, but I can still listen to his music. I don't necessarily agree with Mark Hamill's positions, but I can still enjoy Star Wars. I've attended an Al Gore event to hear him speak, because it's important to hear what the other side says. Politics don't encapsulate or define an individual, people are more complex than that. Lou's a fantastic motivational speaker. I don't see why a new podcast should be deadpanned by Irish fans before it's been heard. To go along with that, any talk about removing his statue is comedy. The man hasn't done anything inappropriate, he's entitled to opinions.

Very true... I am surrounded by progressives in my industry (Higher Ed) and have constant exposure. I have to listen to them speak constantly. The problem is they never want to listen to the other side. Hell my campus had a sit-in to block a conservative speaker.
