People don't realize what it is to be a guy like Lou Holtz with everyone grabbing for your lapel. Lou travels with a small entourage who try to screen him from disorganized things that are, indeed a waste of what little time he has at any one occasion. My brother was being honored as Ohio Valley Sportsman of the Year and the presenter was Holtz. He did his stuff with inspiration and humor, but "off camera" was a bit curt. When he found out that my brother had his mom there and that she'd been married in the Old Log Chapel in 1939, he burst into smiles and hurried her up on stage for a round of applause.
Popular figures like Lou are always going to be rushed, and will have some days more impatient than others. I know that I have been burnt by double-crossing media people [who don't do what they promised] several times and it, frankly, pi**es you off. Lou's human and he's not always going to give everyone huge parts of his life to toy with. These people are in business too. They're not a charity or a lovey-dovey ND club, and to be manipulated by business people who think you owe them something will strain your patience. Should he have let it go quicker? Sure. I've been there though.
