I won't like it, but if Kelly really is Detroit's #1 target, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he at least goes and interviews and hears what the franchise has to say.
Last year's Eagles interview probably was more of a negotiation tactic. Too early into his new contract to negotiate again (ND won't make the Weis mistake again anytime soon). I doubt he interviews anywhere unless he really wants out, and there aren't any signs pointing that direction IMHO
can a coaches contract have a no contact stipulation in them?

Sorry if I missed this but can someone post one tweet or article from a credible reporter saying Kelly is going to be targeted by the Lions. Then I will panic along with everyone else.

Sure. It's common. Doesn't mean much though-- usually whatever the buyout is (which I know can be a lot, monetarily, but not necessarily much, legally).
BC used this tactic a little while back, firing their coach for interviewing for a job.
“@footballscoop: Mentioned that Bill O’Brien had been contacted by the Lions. Hear from good source that Lions have also reached out to Dungy & Brian Kelly”
That was from 4 days ago. Better than nothing I suppose but not the strongest source considering the Lions had not even played their last game.
We can't be lucky enough to have a drama free offseason can we?
I haven't seen any legit sources saying there is anything but a rumor at this time. But it was also rumored that the Lions were reaching out gauging interest prior to the end of the season and firing Schwartz.
speculation based off of previous rumors have led some to the conclusion that a new rumor should be started.![]()

Lets start the rumor Kelly is committed to ND for the long haul and put all these other rumors to bed.

Edit: rephrased
What scared me is I can't think of anyone who we could pick up that could keep us on the level we were at. If Kelly does leave it could put us back at 6-6 or worse especially with the schedule we have next year unless we can make one hell of a hire. It just wouldn't be the offseason if we didn't have something to worry about.

We would have to have previous rumors and conjecture to base that off of ... or else it would be irresponsible.![]()
The nfl can steal elite college head coaches, and so can we.
