Josh Adams for HEISMAN

Adams can absolutely win this. He's going to get highlighted next week at Miami, and the final week at Stanford. And what he does leading up to/between that will indirectly matter. As he adds to his TDs/Yards, more people that matter will be watching those 2 games.

If ND makes the playoffs, and Adams does what I think he can do, I think he has as good of a shot as any. Saquon Barkley is the better RB and it's not a question - but people are starting to pump the brakes on him. He can still win it, but a loss at OSU and not rushing well hurt him.

Spotlight games matter. Adams has 2 more coming (unless Stanford craps the bed before then).

I think Oklahoma loses again, which hurts Mayfield. Love will get beat by Adams on the field, which will matter.

Heisman to me has never meant jack because it is all politics.

ND plays PSU and that guy runs for 50 yards against ND.

That GA game was GAME 1. I dont think you can make a true assessment from game one. ND plays GA again and those stats are much different. ND had a QB making his first start who GA new couldnt win the game for ND. So they played run all day long. NDs passing game has evolved since Game one. The line is also blocking a lot better as well.

I think they should award the Heisman before the season starts...no sense waiting to see how things actually finish up.

What are you arguing? Barkley is better than Josh, don't be a homer

Take away Barkley's Kick Return yards and him and Adams are even around 156-159 YPG.

Adams has all his yards (practically) on the ground and Barkley is mixed between run/pass.

Adams has more YPC and YAC.

You can easily make a case for why Adams is a better RB. No homer.

Correct, but the award doesn't award best back (you know this). Adams plays behind a better line. Voters are intrigued by a guy that can return kicks, catch the ball, and run as well.

It's all about... dare I say... EXPLOSIVA, and Barkley has that.

I think Adams would do very well in the return game but Kelly knows he is his workhorse and he needs him in the backfield, and he has been injury prone, so no use possibly getting him injured when we have a lot of athletes who can handle special teams. Although CJ hasn't looked nearly as explosive this year as in the past. He has had a couple that he has almost broke, though. Special teams is extra, he needs his best player playing offense.

You think we suddenly block on returns if Josh is back there?

Show me Barkley busting anyone else loose with some mean blocking and I will give him back the lead in my mind. Adams better than Barkley is not the only argument for a Heisman campaign- they don't just send one person to NYC (although if it were up to ESPN they might).

For what the Heisman has become - I have a hard time conjuring an argument that keeps #33Trucking out of the top 4.

No, you don't get it. In today's lexicon literally literally means figuratively. ND football is just getting with the times, giving people what they want.

I, for one, don't want it.

One can make the case citing numbers, sure. One would be wrong.

Top-end speed: tie
Burst: Barkley
Agility: Barkley
Power: Barkley
Hands: Barkley
Versatility: Barkley

I’d say power is a tie, at least. Agreed otherwise on prospect traits. Barkley is a monster, but Adams is a legit top three back in the country. For this team and this OL there is no one I’d rather have for my team.

Leave it to our f*cking fan base...

We've had Heisman-caliber athletes in the past who never got any real consideration because our team wasn't a contender (Clausen is the first one that comes to mind). I can't recall any complaints about him not getting invited to New York for the ceremony despite his junior year stats making him a worthier candidate than many others who were invited.

Fast forward to 2017. We've finally put together a complete team in playoff contention. We have a Heisman-caliber RB who absolutely deserves consideration. But our own f*cking fans are saying, "Well, sure he's got good numbers, but this asshole from PSU is running behind an inferior OL, and when you project them both at the NFL level..."

Seriously, GTFO.

The 33 not only recognizes Adams but it also identifies the 11 players on the field for offense, defense and special teams, whom all play a role in the ultimate success of Notre Dame's lead trailer.

Yeah, uh huh....

I think Adams is very underrated catching the ball out of the backfield. Plus he would be just as versatile if we needed him to.

Was curious where the funds would be allocated. Will be dope seeing these around.

Very silly Adams isn’t going to see any of it but that’s a different can of worms.

Technically, Adams will benefit from some of it. Actually, he already has benefited. This goes towards their payments, right?

Also, if you look at this as product development, ND is investing in Adams' pre-launch marketing and promotion.

I was bitching they would sell $5 hats for $35 but now that I hear they are giving them to students I am OK with it. And they are $26 apparently so not quite as ridiculous for a hat as I expected.
