So- I've been doing a lot of thinking lately- stay with me through this post.

I am certainly a man of my word- but for personal, job/law schools purposes, am concerned about "getting caught". No idea what the punishment would be, but am weighing whether it would be the best decision for me right now. However, those concerns will not be present in the spring (once I am hopefully admitted to law school).

In the meantime, I am going to make a $50 donation tonight to Clothes4Souls, to assist a great non-profit that provides clothes for people currently living in poverty.

I will do the naked lap in the spring; and while I am sure I am letting down people right now (sorry wolly and koon in particular), I assure you that I will be circling morrissey in the nude at a date to be determined later.

I've done my fair share of nudie laps (and bun runs, although that's a bit different) and I know no harm could ever come of a carefully timed and planned nudie lap. Oh well...

Your law school concerns won't be over just because you have already been admitted. If you got into some actual trouble it would be a huge issue when you are applying to take the bar exam.

I would suggest just doing it now but wear boxers or something. That way you don't get into trouble but it's still embarrassing enough.

During law school I was arrested for something about as stupid as a naked lap (driving a golf cart on a public road) and was initially charged with disturbing the peace before the charges were eventually dropped (and hopefully the cop was fired). I disclosed it on both my New York and Massachusetts bar applications and I wasn't even asked about it during character and fitness. I have a friend who was popped for public urination during law school and had no issue.

I'm not encouraging Jimmy or anyone else to get arrested, obviously. But you'd have to do something pretty serious (and really would have to show some sort of unethical behavior that speaks to moral turpitude in addition to just seriousness) in order to have a real issue. If you don't want to run a naked lap that is understandable, but I wouldn't worry about getting admitted to practice law if you get caught. In life, that is a silly thing and not something anyone will really care about. Most grown people that have had any fun in their life have done something at least that stupid.

You're right. I shouldn't have said "huge" issue. But it will be something that would need to be disclosed if he was arrested for public indecency. And chances are that it would be no problem going forward. But say Jimmy goes to Tallahassee in a couple weeks and gets in a fight with some FSU fans and is a arrested for assault. All of a sudden the public indecency is a bigger issue because it's part of a pattern.

Obviously I'm using hypos but my point is that there is no need for him to risk getting arrested.

I commend you Jimmy on trying to mitigate not doing the lap by donations to a great cause and trying to work something out in spring. That being said, this is a clear "don't write checks you butt can't cash" scenario.

Sure... there are tons of people that spout rhetoric only to back off with mitigating actions throughout their lives. Which is certainly more admirable than say... completely disregarding their responsibility. But there is something entirely different about those that stand by their word and find creative ways to make sure they complete the things they commit to doing.

You don't lose any points with us, but I cannot say that i'm not disappointed. I always believed that you would pull it off. That you would find a way to accomplish this without backing away from your commitment.

I have been brainstorming on your behalf. I think that, under the circumstances, a proxy would probably suffice. I submit that, should your girlfriend run the naked lap for you, and video evidence of such is presented, then that should satisfy your responsibility fully.

How's that for a creative solution?
