That is a beautifull logo. BCS Championship baby and remember I picked against these guys 9 times. Lou Holtz school of commentary about the opponent. There is no way Notre Dame can beat the mighty SEC is there? I have had to hear from people down here the following-Notre Lame/join a conference/6 teams in the SEC would beat Notre Dame/not even a top 10 team/you didnt play anyone/overrated/cant believe they have their own tv package/will you ever score a touchdown again (Weis's bad start 4 years ago). I say this -the SEC better beat Notre Dame by 3 touchdowns as I have heard or all this $#@% will be words that will be hard to chew for quite some time. I'll give my illustrious prediction when its time- but for now how can Notre Dame stand up against the mighty SEC? They think this Saturday is for the national championship. I think back to 1975 and pro football when the NBC broadcasters said the winner of Miami/Oakland would be the champions of pro football. Waiting in the wings was the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Oakland Raiders got 38 yards on the ground against the 'Curtain' and were beaten. Dont dismiss this bunch from Notre Dame-do it at your own folly.

West Virginia was a cinderella themselves so that is a bit different... but in 77 and 73 ND wasn't given much of a shot either... and don't forget 88 Miami and 93 FSU

how'd that work out?

ND has a bit of a history of winning games like this when there is a lot on the line.

My two favorite things were his portrayal of TA&M fans (Oooops!) and his featuring the Natual Lite can he was top poping!

Species diversity is what keeps our species going. Wouldn't you want him running (drunk) next to you if a gator was all on your *** and going to swaller you whole?

We've got to figure out a way to solve the red zone issues. Even with a great defense I don't think we win the national championship kicking more field goals then touchdowns.

I just looked up the stat, we are 118th in the country in percentage of red zone possessions that end in a touchdown. Alabama is 11th and Georgia is 4th.

This.

No matter if we play Bama/UG, looking at the box score I know we will compete/beat them. But we need to finish drives better. Good news is Kelly has a lot of free time to come up with remedies to our redzone troubles.

I always have to smh at the reasons people give as to why they hate ND... almost none of them are legit/real and the few that are usually have nothing to do with ND itself...

I have an opportunity to get some tickets. I have a friend who is a bama season ticket holder so they have put their names in the lottery if bama wins the SEC championship and I would only pay face value $350. If I'm lucky I may end up among bama fans, but I could be at the NCG!

To the contrary, I'm having a great time.

Yesterday the woman at the supermarket deli counter took a look at my ND hat and gushed, "I was born at Notre Dame (she meant South Bend) and I'm rooting for them!"

The other day a jogger ran past my wife walking our dogs wearing ND leashes (my wife has filled my Christmases and B'days with ND gear for 20 years) and yelled out, "GO IRISH!" (He was probably an Auburn fan).

Tonight at the movie theatre, a 60 something guy wearing an Alabama hat saw my hat and commented politely, "I hope we beat Georgia, Saturday. Those ND/Bama Bowl Games in the 70's were two of the best ever played. Maybe Saban can do what Bear couldn't." I wished him luck ... for Saturday.

My neighbor has a huge Bama flag hanging in his yard. He called me after the Southern Cal game to congratulate ND Nation on a perfect season. When my house Christmas lights get turned on, there will be a #1 where the big star usually goes.

I've had people asking if it was true the CBs never played that position before, asking how ND ever got a Hawaiian to go to a school with snow, and is it "really" true that ND graduates all it's players. Nobody has been rude.

The older ones remember the 70's, some are still bitter. A lot of their younger fans don't know about much about the ND/Bama history outside of Cornelius Bennet but they will after Saturday.

I'm in TN and its mixed for me. You have the sec die hards who believe they're the only game in football, but I am getting a lot of people telling me they hope ND wins because they're UT fans and hate bama and Georgia. My championship party will be mostly ut fans. My biggest thing...my dad is a big bama fan.

The main thing I've gotten living in SEC land is "Do you really think Notre Dame can beat a SEC team?" But it's asked in way like you would ask someone "Do you really believe in Santa Claus?" I had an UGA fan tell me that all they had to do was win the SEC because "it's like that one year we played Hawaii." I just smiled and said "I hope Mark Richt and the players think they're playing Hawaii too. They'll be in for a rude awakening then."

Sorry if I missed this somewhere on IE

Question(s):

How many practices are allowed for bowl game prep?

Do we get more or longer practices allowed because of the longer time between our last game and the bowl game?

Do we get more practices allowed because its a NC game?

What does our practice schedule look like for the rest of the year?

I wish it was like this in Georgia. The Dawgs fans I know think they will beat Bama and then absolutely destroy Notre Dame in the National Championship game. All I hear is how Notre Dame has no business playing in the Championship because ND really hasn't played anyone and whichever team wins the SEC is going to steamroll ND. Its starting to get old and it's not ever December yet.

What are NCAA guidelines for bowl teams and practice?

Quote:
Although there is no specific limit on the number of practices teams may hold while preparing for a bowl game, standard NCAA rules apply for student-athletes’ participation in practice or other athletically related activities. Same as the regular season, these rules limit practice and other athletic activities to a maximum of four hours per day and 20 hours per week.

Great post, love reading this stuff.

I live in Indy, so there's a lot of ND love around here, but what is happening that hasn't happened in a while is people coming up to me and/or my wife and saying "Go Irish!". I'm seeing a lot more Irish gear pop up. People are pumped.
