Sucks to lose on this stage and in this fashion (to OSU of all teams), but damn - if we knew the injuries we would sustain before hand, would ANYONE have expected 10 wins? A healthy ND COULD be dangerous.

I just REALLY want to see that some day...to be able to see just how good we are. A player loss or two is understandable, but 5 players to academic suspension and 7 injuries. Now 2 players suspended and 9 injuries. How good as a full healthy team are we?

If Jaylon comes back he is a fool.

Why? I would have said that yesterday but there's a good chance the kid is going to miss the combine most likely and I bet a couple of teams shy away from him if this is a bad injury.

What does he have to prove that he can't do for a team in an individual workout?

Because teams have film on him, he's a freak, could him missing the combine hurt? Maybe a little, but if anything that injury drives home the point to leave and get a paycheck.

I'm mostly disappointed in the way we lost being the last game of the year. This is the only game that we were not in it until the very end. Clemson and Stanford came down to the final play pretty much. Had we been able to score on our last drive, there was at least a glimmer of hope for an onside kick and a game tying TD. Once Kizer fumbled it was definitely over.

ND definitely dogged a bullet here getting anybody but Houston is a win. If you play the cougars and beat them them, nobody cares
yeah but if you lose to them then everybody and their mother would come out of the wood works calling for BK's head and you'd have a continued, nauseating ( and in IMO) mindless thread asking is Brain Kelly a good coach . That's what losing to a team like Houston will do. Just take a look at some of the FSU message boards today. ! Lol

He can't do an individual workout if his leg is in a brace. No idea how bad the injury is but it doesn't look like he would be able to do any of those things. GM's will see that he's a rare talent and I'm sure he would still go pretty high but I don't think it would be dumb for him to come back.

Top athletes come back from major knee injuries as good or better than they were before. No need to come back and risk hurting something else or the same knee. I was voted the top LB in the country. Nothing left to prove.

Thanks for all you have done JS enjoy the league.

Two things today....

the inability of the defense to get off the field on third down was huge. Also, the OL struggled against a depleted Buckeye DL. Both a little surprising as the Irish OL played well enough through the season and the defense's third down rate was solid during the season too.

I agree with these two things. I would add that Kizer arguably played his worst game.

Agreed, but you know what, OSU probably should have been in the playoffs. Great effort, and I enjoyed the game regardless. My heart goes out to Jaylon though. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Yep... seeing Jaylon go down was tough and a big reason I think the Irish struggled on third down somewhat. Sometimes the "next man in" just isn't going to work. Can't lose a lottery pick in the middle of the defense and not feel the effects. Hope he recovers fully.

Our defense is slow and cannot consistently stop anyone on 3 straight plays. We are injury-plagued, poorly conditioned and rarely cause turnovers. Our 3rd and 4th down defense the past two games is epically bad. OSU toyed with us today. Today i gave up on Van Gorter, but unfortunately Kelly won't until after next season ends the same way.

Our special teams blocking and coverage was dismal.

Our offense cannot consistently move the ball and Kizer looked like what we thought he was before the start of the season (a backup QB). He made poor decisions, took bad sacks, made bad throws, missed open guys. Our offensive line which was fully healthy to my knowledge got manhandled by Ohio State who was just as depleted on defense as we were.

The bright spots were Adams, Trumbetti, Hunter, Grace, Robinson, Brown, Day, Jones, Onwalu, Farley, and Watkins played hard and tough. Bonner got some playing time and did okay.

Okwara, Day, Cage, Jones, and Rochell dropping into coverage as often as they did was absurd as was watching Joe Schmidt try to blitz.

The play that I'll remember most of this game was the 4th down play in the fourth quarter that Luke held his receiver. Terrible scheme by BVG. As bad as we played all game, if we hold them there, we get the ball back with 6 minutes left down 10 in good field position with all 3 timeouts. We were never going to win but could've made it interesting.

Losing Bosa was arguably a bigger loss for OSU than Jaylon was for us.

Jaylon was on the field in the Stanford game as well and we struggled on 3rd down. Face it. We're slow and in complicated schemes that aren't appropriate for our players. Jaylon can mask a lot of things and he did this season.

While I have my doubts about BVG as well, I can't lay that play on him. He had Luke in position... but Luke got beat on the move. That's on Luke.
