Who were the individuals that liked when Spielman was announced for this game? He had some okay analysis, but there was an awful lot of fellatio going on for his former team, it was a little sick at times.

Really wish we weren't so depleted on defense for this game, and the Jaylon injury was just awful. The kid was a rock for 3 seasons, horrible time for an injury like that, but I hope he recovers quickly in time for the Combine. This was just a terrible match-up from day 1 with the way tOSU finally woke up after the Michigan State loss, and the injuries we've continued to suffer through the season. I'm glad we kept it as close as we did, because it could have been worse. Lot of heart in this team, it's a shame they couldn't finish with a big win.

As much as I hate to say it...ND is at least one step below the elite teams. We lost to the three best teams we played this year. Injuries played a part but the really good teams find a way to overcome.
Also I think todays game would have been a lot worse if Bosa stayed in the game. He was dominating the game. The Irish didn't seem to have any answers for him.
The OSU front seven was far better than the Irish. Until that area of the team gets better, the Irish will not beat the better teams.

I'm sorry but it shouldn't take damn'er 3 yrs for a CB to learn to turn your head around when you're trying to make a play on the damn ball !. This is basic fundamental,situational football that you should've learned playing HS football.! For god sakes !!!

I agree. Yes, we beat the teams we should beat, sometimes not too handily. But we lost all three to the best teams, even though we could have won two. OSU game was never in doubt, Kizer's worst performance.

I thought KVR had ridiculous numbers coming out of high school and his box jump would correlate with great explosiveness for long jump/40 time. I thought KVRs shuttle was amongst the best in his class as well.

I think the combine would really help him but he's still recovering. He may need a full year to work on his combine scores and the bonus is he can give ND another year and get a year of grad school free.

but yet with all these physical attributes that he showed at these combines, which means absolutely nothing if he doesn't understand he has to get his around when the ball is in the air when he's defending the passer and receiver. This is called situational football

I am so proud of the team. They fought through so much adversity all season. They never quit, including today. But we were handled by a better team today. If Bosa had been in there and their two defensive line players who missed, this would have been even an uglier loss. I may loathe the Buckeyes, but I do tip my hat to them. They are one heck of a good team. I think they are likely on a par with Bama and Clemson as the best in football this year.

Those may have been the three BEST teams that we played, but they were NOT the only GOOD teams that we played.

All due respect to Mr. Spielman was an outstanding LB who was awesome against the run, with that being said Mr. Spielman was not a DB who had to have coverage skills.

I disagreed with him, too. But I think what he was saying was that a defender doesn't HAVE to get his head around, in order to avoid a pass interference penalty. He wasn't saying that it is good technique to not turn your head and find the ball.

This game was why there were people on here saying they didnt want to play OSU. It was ugly to watch, osu looked faster, more athletic, and better coached. We'll never be a real contender until we can field a better defense.
