Yup. Waititi has mentioned that he'd like to do another Thor movie and Hemsworth was okay with it. They're not giving up Thor if they don't need to

Hemsworth seems to be a guy that will happily continue to play Thor while chris Evans is on record ready to move on. So I’m calling for a Cap sacrifice with the gauntlet.

I was expecting this during Infinity War, but I'll take more Cap. The common theory I've heard is Bucky becomes the new Captain America. It just wouldn't be the same...

Does Strange see past his dusting? As such - knowing him and Spidey go kaput and Thanos gets the stone he bargains for Tony to live? Or did the Tony bargain tip the odds so he did not get dusted? I don't see how Strange could see that as the path to success if he can't see past his death (which he should not right?).

The instant I saw Panther go poof I knew these "deaths" weren't going to last. No way they blow up that cash cow. Then when Spidey goes I was just irritated that none of the "deaths" will matter in the end. Kind of pissed off at the end - not because they killed everyone off but because I knew they were going full comic book - nobody ever REALLY dies.

I was dancing around it trying to express why the finger-snap kind of bothered me, and this is it. They NEEDED to do it, because it's a core part of the story. But the stakes needed to be greater by getting rid of some of the core guys in that instant, rather than everyone that is clearly going to have to come back.

It's fine in the comics. Sliding time scales, alternate universes, "What If" scenarios, etc. You need all of those to continue publishing comics and to keep things fresh.

But you have to think the MCU is a one-off in a way that the comic books are not... 'Black Panther 2' isn't going to take place on Earth 2736 in some alternate timeline. It's going to be connected to the real-world earth in the MCU, and so you KNOW T'Challa is coming back. Same with Spider Man. Same with Starlord.

The only way they reveal alternate timelines and universes in the MCU is if their existence is a central thread in one of the stand-alone films, and resolving/eliminating those competing timelines is part of the action. Otherwise, introducing that idea on a large-scale, and making audiences wonder "what's real?" and "what's going to stick and what isn't?" during every film and every crossover event would be a true "jump the shark" situation.

Maybe that's how Captain Marvel ties in to Avengers 4? She alters the timeline after Nick Fury calls for aid? Idk what her powers are, or who she's friends with, so idk. Just spit-ballin' now.

(I could also see, in the post-credits of the very last MCU film before they hang up the cleats or decide they are going to take a 10-year break prior to rebooting everything, that Stan Lee meets 87 other version of Stan Lee in some grand assembly, and they all start talking about the Wonky Shit that's happening on their versions of Earth, and we learn that some catastrophe or giant cliffhanger that closes the MCU, and everything in the MCU that came before it, is just a tiny blip on the cosmic scale. Kind of a "Men in Black" moment where you see the Earth is part of a universe that is inside of a single marble being used as a toy by an alien.)

It’s amazing how well that casting has been that I can only view these actors now as the characters they play.

That's kind of why I think it sets up a grand tradeoff, where Stark and Cap (and possibly others) trade places in allowing the trillions of souls to come back from dust.

Well Hemsworth was Thor from the very first minute of the first Thor movie, what with the outrageous accent and overacting. Chris Evans is Captain America though. Same w/ RDJ as Stark

I thought RDJ has a couple movies left on his contract.

I thought those couple of movies were post-IM3, aka Civil War, Infinity War, Avengers 4, and Spiderman.

I could be wrong and/or operating on old information.

Hmm, I can't find a source saying that he has movies left though, I might've had bad info

Well Downey is making a billion per movie so I could see him coming back.

They can kill Tony Stark if they want...

He's just going to come back as super-advanced AI Life-Model Decoy that Pepper Pots delivers to the group of heroes when they are in their toughest situation yet.

My understanding is that RDJ had a contract thru Avengers 3 & 4 (original for fewer but expanded later), but had individual contracts for ones like Civil War and Spider-Man Homecoming, but I could be wrong.

The way he has been acting at the 10 year celebration and in some of the press for this makes it seem that he knows it is just about over. I don't know that they will kill him off in 4, but at the very least he will retire from the on screen team and/or settle down.

My guess is Evans is over for Cap after 4, unless they get him to film a flashback or something in a future turn over the shield to Bucky movie. That is my guess for Cap's future just based onthe fact that Sebastian Stan signed like a 9 picture deal and has only been in 4 so far (5 with Avengers 4- not counting White Wolf cameo).

I remember reading about that, and all of the people familiar with the comics were like "yeah that makes sense since Cap has to die and Bucky has to pick up the shield."

My review of this one...I liked it A LOT

So much action, most everyone got a good moment or two for their character for drama or comedy or both. Most especially Thor. Best Thor yet because he got the best writing and best of both drama and comedy in his portion and you finally really felt for his character. Loved him and the "rabbit" and Groot becoming part of Stormbreaker.

I know if feels like a cheat now as far as the gravity portion (ie deaths that occurred), but I honestly felt going into this that even though they stopped it from being called IW 1 & 2, that it still sounded like the story would not conclude until 2. I think some of the deaths from IW will be permanent Heimdall, and I wouldn't doubt Loki, but I do doubt Gamora (something to do with soul stone and/or Thanos' actual love for her. I also believe a good portion if not all that turned to dust will be back. But we will most likely lose Cap to death and if Stark doesn't die, he will retire from the group at least and maybe make a cameo to help Shuri or call Peter Parker. All of this to be concluded (?) next May!

In the comics they have had both Bucky and Falcon pick up the shield at times, but because of the knowledge of Stan's contract it does seem like him. Plus, honestly it makes more (comic book) logic. After all, Bucky has a version of super serum in him as well doesn't he? Were as Falcon is a regular guy in a flying wing suit ("I do everything he does, just slower").

I think so. Isn't that why the German guy from "Civil War" hypnotized him and had him track down the other German super-soldiers that had been injected and then put on ice?

I also liked

"Where is Gamora?"

"Who is Gamora?"

"WHY is Gamora?"

Drax might be my favorite. Bautista does such a good job of delivering that literal-but-stupidly-boisterous characterization.

"Nothing goes over my head. My reflexes are too fast. I would catch it."

"Humility... I like it. I, too, am extraordinarily humble."

Yeah, I laughed at that one, the rabbit jokes, the pirate and an angel, and how Rocket smuggled out the eye.

“Ooh, I’d have washed that first.”

Are we sure about Wong? Also I really think War Machine should have died in Civil War.

From a pretty entertaining "Roast: Infinity War" thread:
