Don't mention Claypool to defense. Apparently I'm a smarass (thanks IrishLion) because I'd rather have McKinley and Robertson at WR and move Claypool to LB.
I think Claypool has ridiculous upside and I think he's without question a WR and not a LB and I can't stress this enough that he's one for the future and he's not going to see the field for sometime. He's got the tools to be special and that alone you see flashes of what could be however at this time he's terribly unrefined as well as lacking in other areas to contribute for some time.

The point is other than the scholarship crunch Claypool and fellow commit Stepherson aren't ready now and will essentially be in a different class as if those 2 ended up Irish they would be in year 3 of playing whereas Claypool and Stepherson just now seeing the field as WR.

Told Biggins ND was the outright leader. It's the first time he actually name a leader to Biggins

My "smart-ass" REP comment was a good-natured joke about your "I support this bump" comment because of our bump debate a few days ago. It had nothing to do with your beliefs on positional changes, nor was it a criticism. I repped you because I thought it was a funny comment. I guess that wasn't very clear?

Lol my bad, was solidly drunk when I posted that. ND football celebration started Thursday night and ended around 6 hours ago. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

1. McKinley
2. Robertson
3. Corley

I see the staff moving Claypool to defense.

I like what I've read about Alloway, but he seems to be taking his time between ND & UCLA.

All good brother, I'm not even going to lie I was kind of grumpy this morning. I shouldn't have come back so hard on, I could have just clarified about my original rep comment.

if i remember correctly the staff said he's #1 on the staff's list so i guess with our staff's ability to judge talent at the WR position i gonna hope we land him above the rest

Get the kids here and go from there. Very simple IMO. Hell, K Russell was recruited as an athlete on the offensive side of the ball, and now he's an AA defensive back.

McKinley is a WR. Great replacement for Fuller. Corley is similar IMO. One of the two.

Roberson is a great talent on both sides of the ball and doesn't have a preference.

Alloway/Stovall are extremely similar. I prefer Stovall but it's close. Slot guys.

Callaway is another kid that can play both sides. I think he prefers offense.

Was that before we saw legitimate interest from Robertson? How about before we heard Craig-Myers may have interest? Just curious. I seriously want all three and if one or two of our receivers end up on defense, then so be it.

I can tell you the staff LOVES Claypool on offense and they'll give him every opportunity to play there. Things could change of course but for now Claypool wants to be an offensive player.

I've heard the same thing and there is no doubt he's an offensive player it's more of a question is he going to stay a WR or will he grow into a TE as he adds strength.

Everything I've heard is that he's one for the future and that it's going to take quite a while before he's ready but when he is watch out because they believe his upside is off the charts.

Javon is more like Corey Robinson IMO, not a burner but a big target with good hands.
Corley is more like a raw Torii Hunter

He's not as long as Robinson. The best way to describe him is Davaris Daniels with better everything and most importantly big YAC production. That's Robinson's weakness.

I'd like to see everyone's best comparisons of our top 4 WRs:

*Claypool = ?
*Craig-Myers = ?
*McKinley = ?
*Corley = ?

Feel free to use NFL or NCAA players, just curious how everyone views this group.

*Claypool = ?

Claypool - Mo Stovall but needs a lot of work to get there. Very, very raw player with tons and tons of potential.

Craig-Myers - Anquan Boldin. Bigger, thicker WR's that can use their body to get open and make tough catches. Not going to blow anyone away with combine numbers, but is a football player.

McKinley - Eric Decker. Once again, not a player that will blow you away with combine numbers, but will out run the defense and be open. Nice hands, but might not play as a freshman, just depends on how well he fine tunes his route running and ability to consistently get off the line of scrimmage.

Corley - AJ Green. He probably has one of the highest ceilings in the class. You can see each game he is improving. He has the rare combo of length and speed that the others on this list dont have. Combine that with his athletic ability and you have the makings of a special player if he hits his ceiling. His route running has come a long way since his sophomore season and he understands concepts, which has helped him tremendously.

Centennial actually won 52-13, but I get your point lol.

Good call. I got the score from Centennial's Maxpreps page. Maxpreps is a hot mess and it's a shame, there is a need for its format. I wish it would merge with one of the competent recruiting sites.

To me, this kid epitomizes the distinction between projected pro potential and projecting college potential.

Seems to me, he is a sure-thing in the college game, whether or not he lacks true elite measurables.

Saw Centennial beat #10 Orange Lutheran 35-10... and I've got a confirmation if not a scoop.

One of the Centennial player's parent said Javon is a lock and he'll commit at the US Army Game. BTW, The parent's son is being recruited by DI programs and has football offers so it's not like they are ignorant to the process. How's that for good news!

Now to the game. He was a machine. 10 rec, 197 yds (half of it YAC) 1 TD. He did have a lost fumble forced by ND recruit, 4 star safety Brandon McKinney who got lower than JMC. Javon was low but McKinney made a perfect play that would have caused a fumble on anyone. Javon would have gone for over 350 easy with 3 or 4 TD's but their QB over threw him on a couple of 60-70 yd bombs that he had 3-4 steps on the defender.

I watched a replay of Fox Sports LA's broadcast. They were comparing him to Dez Bryant throughout the telecast. I got down on the field at the end of the game and got a look at some of the guys. I'd say he's the 6-2 they say he is, in cleats at least. I'd put him at 190-195. I've seen him listed at 185 up to 210. He's put together. I just checked the comparisons vs. Dez Bryant in high school and they are spot on.

They had a halftime feature on him during halftime on Fox. First and foremost, he's got a 4.16 GPA and got all A's last year. Check that box. He's very well spoken, polished actually. Check that box. He'll be a fine addition in every aspect of being a Notre Dame student athlete.

Happy days for this fan.
