I'd be surprised if we fill our ticket allotment for that one. I could see that game being a near full red-out with the kind of spirit (or lack thereof) we showed yesterday.

It has to do with going to the game in 2019 and making ND fans presence known would be a more productive use of time than complaining on a website.

You went to the game and had to deal with the UGA fans, kudos. Complaining doesn't change the dedication they showed or lack thereof some Notre Dame fans showed. Us making 2019 hell for them does.

This was a one point, grind it out game, one where every small momentum change mattered. But you think a crowd filled with raging Dawgs didn't matter?

Give me a break. If I recall, you or your buddy sold tickets. That's why you are trying to act like crowds don't matter. Is that right?

My family has season tickets and we don't sell to anyone but each other, but we go to the games always. If it had been my game (we drew Temple, Miami (OH) this year) I would have been there. But it was still ND fans in our seats.

For every fan that sold seats, there was an ND fan not willing to pay to go and GA fans were. So the guy who is so upset he's on the internet complaining about crowd, is also the guy who didn't care enough to open his wallet and make sure it didn't happen.

What were the number of tickets available on resale for this game compared to average ND games? I'm not talking about who bought them. Would be interesting to see, imo, if it's same number of seats in total but not the purchaser.

I stand by the opinion that who won and lost this game has absolutely nothing to do with color of shirts or stadium noise.

Against USC in 2005 and Pitt in 2012 the crowd noise was good enough to throw opposing offenses off and cause delay of game and false start penalties. That helps the defense out directly. In a 1 point game you're silly if you don't think a louder crowd couldn't have impacted this game. We had good energy last night, but we were fewer in number. To make matters worse the GA fans were able to generate their own noise while we were on offense. Disgraceful as the Home team. Our players deserve better.

I don't know how many season tickets there are, but for a game like this there are zero "general sale" tickets. All of the non-season ticket seats go into the lottery and they're only made available to the general public if the lottery doesn't sell them out.

To add, it's not really an "alumni lottery." The pecking order is based on a lot of factors, but the biggest one is contributions made to the university. An alumnus who doesn't donate to the university does not get lottery access.

I thought Georgia stepped on their own foot plenty of enough times to help ND.

What our players deserve is a quality game plan and elite level preparation. They aren't getting those and that's far more worrisome than who bought tickets on Stub hub.

This is pretty much it. This was a bucket-list, once-in-a-lifetime experience for Georgia fans. For us it's one of two or three big home games a year. They were more willing to pay for it.

And for a lot of Notre Dame fans who don't live within a couple hours of campus, the tickets are the cheap part. I have to buy plane tickets, a rental car, a hotel room (not cheap this weekend, thanks to all the Georgia folks). That's a lot, and my friends are going to USC, so if I make a game it'll be that one.

Full disclosure, I'm one of those bad fans who sold to a Georgia fan. Got a pair in the alumni lottery and sold them - at face value - to a Georgia alum friend of my wife's who's been looking forward to this game since they scheduled it. He brought his dad. Had an amazing time, he said, even before the game started.

I know. I donate $200 every year to get in the lottery (and to support my alma mater, of course ). Most of my buddies think I'm a chump for doing this, as they usually buy tickets to all but the biggest games at less-than face value in the parking lots beforehand.

It was really hard to tell because the red stood out so well. Obviously the away corner was almost all red across the stadium from the students...but it permeated far out from there. I would say from the Away corner it was mostly red almost to the press box, then mostly blue under there through the student section, past the library side, and then it started going red again. I was in row 18, section 110, 50 yard line and there were mostly GA fans around us. If I had to put a number on it I'd say it looked like 35-40% were GA fans. I might be off a bit by 5% or so because of the way the red stood out, but it was very significant. In my opinion it was worse than the Nebraska game and I was here for that one too.

Last week sold 4 upper bowl for total of $150, loss of $430. Probably won't renew next year.

This is why I have a hard time begrudging people who sold at a profit for last night. A lot of people have lost a lot of money reselling ND football tickets over the last 20 years.

We sell out every game. There were plenty of guys willing to pay over face for this game. People were just taking the highest bidder regardless of who they were a fan of.

Furthermore, when you have season tickets, there is an assumption you win on some games and you lose on others. Overall, you pay a premium for guaranteed seats. That's how it goes.

Bottom line. Thousands... I repeat... thousands of ND fans knowingly sold their tickets to UGA fans for the simple fact that could get a little bit more from them. This is a poor representation of us as fans. Can you imagine this happening in the Shoe or in the Big House?

The thing I can't figure out is that they actually DID crack down on me when I tried to sell that $3,000 table I bought for the Fenway game. Those weren't even part of Notre Dame's ticket quota, they were the Boston Red Sox' / Fenway Park's tickets and I still got a call from Donor Services when I had them up on StubHub.

Problems are everywhere-the team is the current and highest priority problem, not tickets.

Eh, this is dumb. If you wouldn't buy tickets for $1,000 you should sell them for $1,000 given the opportunity. There's no rational reason you should treat the two differently. And, frankly, right now...Notre dame football is not worth $1,000/ticket. If I'd had tickets you'd better believe they would have gone up on stubhub.

It's easy to complain about it and it certainly was frustrating to watch but if you weren't at the game you made the exact same calculation as the people who sold their tickets made- the game wasn't worth $1,000/seat for you.

As a season ticket holder since 2009 if a ticket holder is caught for selling your ticket for more than the listed price you lose your privilege if ND finds out.

This was my question too....was always under the impression that the process was blind (selling through stubhub, so that you don't know who the buyer actually is)

That's not the point. If you don't want to go to the game, selling to an ND fan is better than selling to a Georgia fan but the even better option is to not buy the ticket in the first place.

First off... kudos for your OP. It was downright sad seeing that much red in the Irish stadium. It looked like a Ga home game on the tv. Secondly, you are correct about fan noise affecting games. Kirby stated after the game that his offense could hear the QB cadence and that just doesn't happen on the road in the SEC for premier match ups. And for those that don't agree... go to Baton Rouge on a Sat night and ask yourself if crowd noise matters.

So... I would suggest that for those that sold out and sold their ticket to the Ga game for profit should donate the next home game tickets to an under privileged father and son who would damn sure love to see the Irish play. That's where dreams are made.

Family has done so since 1964, starting when we lived in SB. All the siblings (including 4 ND alums) have moved away to west coast, dad has passed, mom has moved out of SB to west coast, me and baby bro are in texas. Used to be easy for everyone to make a trip or two back to SB for game weekends. Had a place to stay, home cooking, etc. Now, not as easy, and with 7 home games and having only 2 good opponents....just not worth it going forward.
My point was season ticket holders are paying the brunt for all the stadium upgrades, and they are typically long time ticket holders that travel to get to games. Sad thing is it's getting hard for a dad to grab his 2-3 kids and take them to a game or two and experience the ND game weekend. That's what got me started being a lifelong ND fan, all those game memories with my dad. I'm not an alum.

You guys are missing the point. You shouldn't be buying tickets with the thought of profit. Either buy the tickets to support the team, or don't. You're what's wrong with this fan base.

Also, face value on the tickets weren't $1000 (Provided you bought them one off without a donation), it was $240 for ours in the upper bowl. It was probably more for the lower bowl, but I'm guessing not to the tune of $1000. $240 is usually a bit pricey for a football game, but I think we got our money's worth last night. A win would have been nice though.

They just need to crack down on resale. There's a policy in place that you can't sell above face value but they don't enforce it.

You're right, they have a policy, but they don't enforce it because they won't. They keep records of who has what tickets. As an example, my Army buddy that got thrown out of the Air Force game in 2011 was there on my own ticket. I received a certified letter from the University a few weeks later detailing the alcohol policy in the stadium and if I broke it again I would be prohibited from buying tickets in the future. So, they obviously could enforce the resale policy if they really wanted to, but they probably know that it's rampant enough that if they did do anything about it they'd lose too many ticket holders...and that's $$$, and Notre Dame doesn't do anything to stifle revenue these days.
