No, really, sort of.
So I'm moving, and I hired some movers to come pack and load my stuff on Monday. I got a call on Sunday saying that they would not be there until Wednesday. I wasn't very happy about that, as I have to drive from Portland, OR, to Columbus, OH. I didn't want to wait until Weds. or Thurs. to leave. On Monday, I got a call from from "Amy", to follow up on the new pickup date. I told her that I understood that the truck was delayed, but I really needed them there on Tuesday. She said she would do everything she could, and would call me back on Monday evening, to confirm the day and time with me. Well, I never heard back from Amy on Monday evening, Tuesday morning, Tuesday afternoon, or Tuesday night. So, on Wednesday, I called the company back and spoke to the guy I originally talked to, to get a quote from them. He told me that the truck would be at my apartment between 3 and 5pm. Well, 3-5pm came and went, with no movers. So I got up this morning and started calling the office. I left plenty of voicemails, and even sent emails. Finally, about noon, I decided to shop the job around some more. I found a place that could have people out in less than 3 hours, to pack and load my stuff. So I left a message at the first place, letting them know that they didn't need to show up anymore. Lo and behold, I suddenly was getting calls from EVERYONE at that company, including Amy. Amy was practically begging me not to cancel. She told me she would do whatever it took, to change my mind. Then she asked me, "Do you like sports?" I responded that I did. She wanted to know if I liked football, and I said yes. Then she comes at me with, "My dad is Joe Theismann, and I can get all kinds of autographed memorabilia. Would you like tickets to just about any sporting event?. etc., etc., etc."
I was unswayed, and went with the second movers. So, in essence, I fired Joe Theismann's daughter.
