No, really, sort of.

So I'm moving, and I hired some movers to come pack and load my stuff on Monday. I got a call on Sunday saying that they would not be there until Wednesday. I wasn't very happy about that, as I have to drive from Portland, OR, to Columbus, OH. I didn't want to wait until Weds. or Thurs. to leave. On Monday, I got a call from from "Amy", to follow up on the new pickup date. I told her that I understood that the truck was delayed, but I really needed them there on Tuesday. She said she would do everything she could, and would call me back on Monday evening, to confirm the day and time with me. Well, I never heard back from Amy on Monday evening, Tuesday morning, Tuesday afternoon, or Tuesday night. So, on Wednesday, I called the company back and spoke to the guy I originally talked to, to get a quote from them. He told me that the truck would be at my apartment between 3 and 5pm. Well, 3-5pm came and went, with no movers. So I got up this morning and started calling the office. I left plenty of voicemails, and even sent emails. Finally, about noon, I decided to shop the job around some more. I found a place that could have people out in less than 3 hours, to pack and load my stuff. So I left a message at the first place, letting them know that they didn't need to show up anymore. Lo and behold, I suddenly was getting calls from EVERYONE at that company, including Amy. Amy was practically begging me not to cancel. She told me she would do whatever it took, to change my mind. Then she asked me, "Do you like sports?" I responded that I did. She wanted to know if I liked football, and I said yes. Then she comes at me with, "My dad is Joe Theismann, and I can get all kinds of autographed memorabilia. Would you like tickets to just about any sporting event?. etc., etc., etc."

I was unswayed, and went with the second movers. So, in essence, I fired Joe Theismann's daughter.

Looking back over the years, Joe was one of ND's Top 10 passers and a Heisman runner-up BUT he only hit 55% of his passes as a Sophomore with 2 TDs and (gasp) 5 TDs. Completed less than 57% for his career, 4411 yds, 31 TDs and (OMG!) 35 INTS and I seem to recall some fumbles ... .

Good move on the Turnover Theismann pass; get a Touchdown Tommy Rees autograph instead. Tommy's only trails Joe by about 1200 career yds, 2 TDs and 17 INTs. He could make the 1200 yds and 2 TDs in the remaining games. Tommy only needs 51 attempts to match Joe's career; Tommy's already passed Joe on completions.

And yet Tommy is holding this team back, and his play has been "awful".

Good story, I would have probably caved for some autographed memorabilia and tickets. I hope your move goes smoother from here.

Different eras, different styles of play and totally different statistical expectations.

As far as Theismann's daughter, how crazy is it that she ended up trying to make that pitch to a Notre Dame fan? I would have gone for free tickets, but that's just me. I can be bought.

On the other hand, Joey T was a GREAT QB. The game he played in the cruddy weather against USC, when no one apparently wanted to block their blitzing linebacker and he had to eat him every play, was Mount Olympus heroic. I sat watching that game [a Shakespearian Tragedy, unfortunately] just jaw-dropped at his fortitude, grit, and talent. Regardless of his king-sized ego, Joey T loves Notre Dame and I'm a fan. [I wish we'd hire him for the TV broadcasts --- Maybe Mayock would be willing to do the play-by-play and a certain person would fade out].

Good luck with your move. You will like Columbus and will have a very deep hate for OSU if you do not already. I cannot believe the fans here.

I'd love to see Rees play from under center with the offense sending out one or maybe two receivers each play.

I don't think it'd be very pretty.

He stares down and only throws to his primary receiver anyway, right? I kid, I kid....
