I'm close to moving to Florida and then things like this make think I might just be better off as a snowbird.

I know we have a few members on the Gulf. Stay safe everybody.

I’ve got a son and family in the Tampa suburbs and one in the Jax area. The third in Ft. Lauderdale just had heavy storms.

Looks like once it crosses Florida it will be hitting my area as a 1 or TS. I’m out of town to Texas this week but hope not to come home to some destruction.

I hope my friend continues to give me updates from his home outside of Tampa. He's away from the coast a bit, but the storm is starting to roll in now.

This storm is going to be a monster. Now say a surge of up to 18 feet with 24 plus inches of rain. Yikes

I’ve got some family with a house on Sanibel. They fully expect nothing to be remaining.

Yeah it’s hitting a little further south than originally projected. Expecting 12-16 foot crests in that area.

Half way expecting the schools to close here in Tally since they are evac shelters. Co-worker's wife's aunt came up from Sarasota yesterday, so that was good.

SWFL is going through some stuff right now and none of it is good.

This is scarier than the 60 year old janitor teaching social studies due to their teacher shortage.

I assume that water is coming back. With a vengeance.

Have a place in Bonita springs. Just got a little more worried.
Same. Our family has 3-4 places between us in FMB/Bonita Bay/Estero. Nervous for the impact—especially if the Imperial experiences significant flooding, also.

Parents have a house in North Naples. Doesnt seem like many people are evacuating there according to them.

My parents do as well, they go for the winter. Looks like the eye is going to go a little north but the area will get a pretty big storm surge.

Mines in Bonita Bay. Love the place, hope there’s not to much damage. Since we got it 7 years ago we’ve been lucky and have missed every storm

I live in Tampa in the Zone E evacuation zone, which was neither a mandatory or voluntary evacuation zone. So, I'm just riding this thing out. The hurricane itself is supposed to roll into Tampa towards the early evening, so we'll see that storm surge and heavy winds/rains at that point. Since the hurricane hit land further south, the winds in Tampa won't be near as bad, but the flooding is going to suck.

Stay safe.

Got a video from my son in Jax. It shows a sea wall that is usually several feet from the water. The water is at the top of it. Crazy how the storm is moving water around.

Live just south of Daytona Beach and we are expected 10-18 in of ran. Already getting some gust now. NOTHING compared to the west coast and that storm surge! Prayers for my fellow Floridians.

Update for yall on Tampa itself. Majority of the hurricane winds have passed through the area and I kept power the whole time. Should be good to go in Tampa itself with little to no flooding. Feel horrible for the folks south of me though. They got absolutely crushed. And the counties to the east and southeast of Tampa are going to have flooding problems. Not to mention the folks to the west in Clearwater and St. Pete that are having power outages as well.
