i was texting with UT buds just this morning, and both said they wish Peyton would just come coach for a couple years while searching, or groom someone to take over. Didn't hear anything near being irritated at him. Small sample, but they're up with all the news generally. They are tossing around names like Steele, Martin, Leach... and now Les Miles

Yeah - they also see Manning as another part of Jimmy Haslam. Wow do they hate him.

I've heard a lot of mixed feelings on Jimmy. Strange thing is, I'd assume the same would be true for his brother, who is the current Gov.

At this point basically all the guys I like have been scooped... Moorhead, Mullen, etc.... so I say it's NFL or bust if we had to make a replacement hire.

Lots of good coaches still out there.

My search would start with Fuente, Aranda, and Frost.

Leach is a strange cat. Good coach, but belongs on a team off the beaten path. He won’t survive more than 3 years at a place like Knoxville.

Like I said earlier my money is on Miles or Martin as 1 and 2. Leach would be an entertaining addition to the SEC to say the least. Would be surprised if he got admin and booster support though.

I posted this on the 21st. Looks like Clay Travis is pretty connected.

Listening to Clay Travis last night, he mentioned some interesting moves that may happen.

Sumlin is likely out at A&M regardless of how he finishes.

If Gus Malzhan fails to beat Bama and win the conference, look for him to end up at Arkansas.

With Mora out, UCLA may go after Chip Kelly, who it appears to be in serious discussions with Florida.

Jimbo Fisher is probably leaving FSU after this year. Possible landing spot A&M or Auburn (if it opens up). Leaving because of a nasty divorce and wants to put some distance between him and the ex.

I wasn’t being literal as it refers to the physical location of campus. I was speaking figuratively as it related to schools where he doesn’t have to deal with a fanatical fan base or much media pressure. I guarantee that going from a place like Washington State or Texas Tech to Tennessee will not be Leach’s cup of tea and it will not last.

For all the "Fire Kelly" crowd of 2016, you should be thrilled that ND kept Kelly and allowed Kelly to make the changes he did in the offseason. 2017 wasn't perfect but was a huge improvement.

There were no better coaches available last year who would've taken the ND job, and this year Tennessee fans are seeing that their job isn't as sexy as they think it is.

I would not compare Knoxville to Pullman.... Not as city, not as program.

Also, what would you know about "being" on the "beaten path"? Doesn't seem like you would be too familiar based on your geographical/intellectual status.

Tennessee screwed up. They started with Schiano and have made poor decision after poor decision. Other universities have made good hires and moved along in the process fine. Tennessee is all time bad search. Being a resident of the sate i get to see it from here. It is bad.

Brian Kelly should have been fired after last year. But he saved his job for one more year. I think next year will be his last.
