I thought teams weren’t supposed to fire people mid season?
I guess the first thing to address is it's mid November and mid season has already passed us by.

Secondly, I think we've established that nothing is going to happen with Parker publicly until after the regular season, if it happens at all. The horse is far more dead than Barbaro at this point. There are two games left. Let's hope they do themselves and everyone a solid by winning them both, then we see what happens.

using a bunch of teams who ND doesnt aspire to be making decisions in season as the reason ND should make a decision in season is interesting to say the least.

I certainly am in the Parker aint the guy (was never the guy) club but I am also in the what advantage do we get club. most people who you would want to replace him arent jobless so it's not like us being officially open does us any additional favor. It's all back channel anyways.

Agree, other than, you don't want to be late to the race. I have NO doubt we got hartman because we went after him way before bama ever did.

Freeman just publicly announced we are going after a fourth QB, pretty much meaning portal. He's saying whether he believes it or not that he doesn't think minchey or angeli are good enough yet (i think he's right). But he's willing to do that publicly now IN SEASON to his players, but WILL NOT do it to an OC getting paid good money and is stinking up the joint. Terrible.

Was anything of substance said about Parker and/or playcalling etc?

ND should be working behind the scenes and finding their guy now and wait until that person is free to make the announcement, we can't have another repeat like last xffseason. SO, if that's what's going on then I'm cool with keeping Parker until the end of the season, if that is NOT going on…. then we may need to seriously reconsider FM (I said what I said).

The part I still do not understand is the university was ready to give TR $2 million a year, correct?

When he left, did that amount disappear? I didn’t look at figures, but can reasonably assume Porker isn’t getting paid $2 million a year.

I think it’s complete Busch League bullshit if the school told MF “well that was for our guy, your guy will only get X, lulz” effectively neutering the search.

There are some really good OC and QB combinations out there (not so much that we need to get both but that more so highlights that they are mostly from non-major teams who are doing good, successful things that should look to tap into for our GT QB and/or OC - Here are some good combinations with the OC listed first:
  • Tulane: Slade Nagle and Michael Pratt
  • Texas State: Mack Leftwich and TJ Finley
  • JMU: Michael Shanahan (in no way related to the famous coach) and Jordan McCloud
    • This is one I’ve most recently become interested in because Shanahan played for college majors (Pitt), spent a few years on NFL teams (on practice teams) and has worked his way up at JMU who are undefeated and he has been able to take a QB on his third college team and make him the #11 rated QB on the latest CF Network list
  • Arizona: Brennan Carroll and Jayden de Laura
  • Missouri: Kirby Moore and Brady Cook
  • Oregon State: Brian Lindgren and DJ Uiagalelei
  • UCLA: Ryan Gunderson and Collin Schlee
  • Kansas: Andy Kotelnicki and Jalon Daniels
  • SMU: Casey Woods and Preston Stone

If I’m a fringe NFL draft player for ND, clarity on the OC situation for next year will be a massive decision maker for whether I stick around or cut ties.

Sucks to say and hear, but it’s probably the truth, and I’d love to ND to simultaneously address and start to solve the OC problem (at least internally) while they’re having talks with players about their plans for next year.

IMO, there are only 3 guys who could realistically play on Sunday through the draft.

One is a potential first rounder, and was going to go pro no matter what.

One plays a position that has been devalued to the point of near irrelevancy in the NFL, and is part of a well stocked position room here.

One is hurt, and may come back because of that.

I’m not sure anyone else is on the fence, unless they want to be an UDFA, and unless I’m missing someone.

MF doesn’t know offense. Keep him hands off. Don’t need the blind squirrel trying to correct up and coming Parker

If they’re undecided they’re decided.
Yep. People are letting their emotions distort critical thinking. In a world where they won't publicly say anything, does one expect someone to whisper to Brice the truth? In that same world, where they actually say undecided, does one not read between the lines. It's obvious, yet people are still seeing red. Terrible!

There are several on D, but on the offensive side of the ball, yeah, you're really just talking about three players with this-year draft prospects. I'd have been surprised to see Evans go even before he got hurt, TBH, just because he's played relatively little. Alt's going, of course, and Estime will decide what he decides for reasons other than who is our OC.

But you do have a number of guys who could potentially transfer who would probably want to know more about next year's offense before deciding whether to go or stay. If you want to keep them around, you hire an OC quickly and then recruit the best transfer QB you can.

Could’ve sworn I threw transferring into the post but didn’t - yeah it’s a great point. I could see offensive players like Tyree potentially walking depending on our offensive setup. Guys who could reasonably be a big enough piece of the offense next year.

On the defensive side, you have to wonder if the offensive issues at least play a slight role in the decision (I’ll admit this is stretching it). But let’s be real, the offense has been putting the defense in tough spots. I see posters citing the number of points we allowed to Clemson forgetting we threw a pick 6, and at times the offense as gone anemic and it’s felt like the defense has consistently been on the field. If part of your decision is influenced by winning games and a shot at a national championship, the state of our offense might factor in, especially if other blue bloods have a position of need.

Again, I admit I’m grasping at straws here, but also please dear lord let’s just finally figure out our OC.

Are we really acting like ND hasn't moved on from coordinators in season before, lol.
