If they intend to hire a new OC, my hope is this gets done as quickly and quietly as possible. It needs to be 100% complete to the point that the new guy is in before Parker even knows about it. After the Ludwig fiasco, you go Chicago Cubs Craig Counsell on this and do it covertly as humanly possible so you not only get the guy you want but you don't look like idiots again if it goes sideways the second time around.
They only looked like idiots because the paraded him around campus like it was a sure thing. Then, they looked even worse when they went from Ludwig to Parker.

Not his first year as an Oc though. People have been frustrated with him for a year+. If Parker is going to be fired, the people who need to know, know
Fair point… but many were frustrated with him before he ever called a play since he wasn’t qualified

But I agree, don’t need to fire him publicly in season but they should be already starting their search behind scenes

One more slightly challenging thing when looking for new hires early on is good coaches not ready to make move until season is done, especially if they’re having a good season

I don’t get why it’s ok for all these other schools to fire failing coordinators in year and not ND. Texas A&M just fired their head coach in season and is paying him 77 million but ND can’t get a head start on finding their next OC. Maybe you guys are right that the staff has already been informed and they are just waiting for the season to end to announce but can the school really have negotiations with another OC while they are still retaining their current coach. I know they can have back channel discussions but until you have actual negotiations and interviews you really don’t know what is going to happen.

Tomorrow if we don’t hear of play calling and game plan changes I’ll be very disappointed, especially if Parker is up in booth calling plays Saturday

I'm still surprised there are people who actually have their hopes up that Freeman is going to fire Parker on a bye week with two regular season games left.

Like if i woke up tomorrow with my head sewn into the carpet I wouldn't be as surprised as I would be if Freeman suddenly fired Parker later today.

Kids, come on out and see what uncle Swarbrick has done to the house!

I expect Freeman to make high-level references to changes in in-game playcalling, without throwing anyone under the bus. Just isnt his style.

He wouldn’t be throwing anyone under the bus except himself. He hired an inexperienced coordinator that didn’t work out.

Prepare to be disappointed. But, I feel this isn't the first thing to live up to your lofty expectations.
Like basic football competence from our staff? Or identifying, preparing, and playing the best players since they are the ones seeing them at practice

I don’t see why you wouldn’t demote him now unless you actually are still considering bringing him back as OC next year… kinda get it first bye, but now with 2 easy opponents it’s about getting in the race for the top OC so you fill that fast and can land a top portal qb

This.............Posters can bitch and moan all they want, but this isn't how ND operates.

Queue all the responses and reasons on how ND is stupid for not doing it now, but it's not going to happen.

Possibly, but then posters shouldn't bitch at posters for bitching about doing the right thing when it doesn't happen.

Fire/Publicly demote Parker now so ppl know we are in the market and then start contacting ppl you want.

I don’t think this is absolutely necessary (agents are working behind the scenes), but I don’t see the harm? Gino should be able to handle Wake Forest (63/130 in total defense) and Stanford (128/130 in total defense).

That said, I’m sure MF / ND prefers to wait until the conclusion of the regular season. Allow GP to bow out gracefully. Even GP should be able to handle the aforementioned.

Just run the damn ball…

"That's how we've always done it" is very much an ND response and often a reason why they've been mired in CFB mediocrity for 30 years.
