blows my mind that we are spending more then Alabama
Relatively poor state. Not large in terms of populous. Not a very wealthy alumni base. Hard to raise enormous funds.

True, but you would think that after all those years and Championships, more would kick in.Relatively poor state. Not large in terms of populous. Not a very wealthy alumni base. Hard to raise enormous funds.
It is advantageous to USThe people who complain about ND's independence being an advantage are truly delusional. If it is so advantageous, why don't other schools do it?
Gross - likely future scheduling concerns i would think
Really hope they expand to playing something other than Bon Jovi.ND has named Dr. Paul Popiel as its new band director
Accomplished leader and alumnus Paul Popiel named Kenn and Pamela Ricci Director of Bands and professor of music at Notre Dame

Ken Dye is reading this and thinking to himself "I knew they wanted more Chicago!"Really hope they expand to playing something other than Bon Jovi.
Does the band director have the authority to bring back the Irish Guard height requirement? "Over 5 feet 6 inches tall in full uniform" doesn't quite have the same imposing feel to it.ND has named Dr. Paul Popiel as its new band director

Considering the band director was the one who changed it, one would assume the new one can change it back. The question is whether he wants to or if they feel it is now a part of th band's identity to "promote from within"Does the band director have the authority to bring back the Irish Guard height requirement? woke crap to change what had been a very impressive guard into just another DEI exampleConsidering the band director was the one who changed it, one would assume the new one can change it back. But people aren't as tall now. You know, because of the chem trails and the flouride.woke crap to change what had been a very impressive guard into just another DEI example
Frankly, I would say the height requirement SHOULD be six foot six
Yes! And get more creativity like the Indiana band hasReally hope they expand to playing something other than Bon Jovi.

Been to a game the each of the last two season after not getting out since 2012. I have been extremely disappointed at how much of a back seat the band has taken as part of the game. It's been good for crowd energy, but piping in music into the stadium has really drowned out our band at times. I miss being able to hear the Imperial March during big defensive plays and other tunes.
Also, the Irish Guard does need to go back to being its own thing, and not a promotion for the band.
absolutelyThey really need to go back to being essentially on field mascots during the games like they used to be. Seeing 6 frat bro looking types going crazy in the endzone and celebrating with the players after a touchdown is something I always find endearing about rewatching old games.
Disagreethe game time experience now frankly is crap compared to 20 years ago.
It was so badass and unique. They really need to go back to being essentially on field mascots during the games like they used to be. modernization is usually a code word for woke jokesDisagree
I'm a fan of the modernization of the game time feel. What they can do a lot less in my opinion, is all the breaks to celebrate random people.
I guess it really depends on what you're looking for as a fan, but I could not disagree more, honestly. Some of the traditional stuff may have changed, such as the band being the predominant music/entertainment, but the crowd is so much louder than when I started going as a child in the 90s and 00s.the game time experience now frankly is crap compared to 20 years ago.
Went to many games during the Holtz years. Yes, the crowd was loud for its size in big games. But before the stadium expansion it only held appx 55k. Haven't been back since 1998, so I'm really looking forward to the Miami game this year and seeing how much it's changed.I guess it really depends on what you're looking for as a fan, but I could not disagree more, honestly. Definitely feel like it is a much more intimidating and fun environment than it ever as in the Davie/Weis/early BK years.
I was old enough to have memories of the Holtz years so I can't speak to that, but the replays I've seen did look pretty hype back then.
so what if it is loud? Does not make up for the restI guess it really depends on what you're looking for as a fan, but I could not disagree more, honestly.
