ND and UGA got sizable bumps for beating the crap out of good teams that were shells of their regular season selves. they need to figure out a way to weight opt outs / injuries into the formula.
OK but also we had two of our Opening Day starters on offense. Opt-outs and injuries cut both ways. We should get some credit for superior depth.

... we had lots of serious opt-out too. So I still applaud our rating.

(sorry for the "echo" comment.)

Or just ignore ESPN.

ND was missing AA left tackle, starting rt tackle, one of the top RB in country, starting center, TE, and QB on offense. Also missing starting Rover, and starting CB and nickel back on defense.

Will Shipley declared for the draft, I think things worked pretty well for us landing Audric after he landed at Clemson.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this but who do you think goes hirer in the draft? Audric or Will?

I found this comment by Sampson in The Athletic to be some good news.
Agreed that's good news, but "make the CFP" doesn't carry the same weight moving forward as it did in the past. It's not as exclusive of an invite as it once was, and we already accomplished that goal twice before. Even then, getting blown out leaves much to be desired.

I really hope Freeman can be the man to get us over the hump. He's had a tremendous offseason from the looks of things, filling in all of the gaps that appeared to be weaknesses, including OC, QB and WR. Angeli looked excellent in the bowl game, giving us some much-needed depth at QB to support Riley Leonard, and we are returning a ton on defense. If we can maintain a solid level of play at the T positions, ND is cooking with gas next season with a lighter schedule.

If we don't win a single playoff game, it's all moot.

We wouldn't have even made the playoffs this year if it was 12 teams. Making the playoffs will always be awesome.

The Nolan Ziegler forum was closed.

He just tweeted a not so glowing tweet ripping the university for how they handle mental health. Sorry IDK how to embed

Took him a little bit, but he deleted the tweet. Was probably for the best.

Putup was right. And in hindsight, said it lightly.

Rumors at TOS he was a really bad teammate and not honest with coaches. Just rumors, but..

Multiple people responded with something along the lines of "bro you don't want the full story out there".

No idea what his story is and hope he's staying healthy and succeeds, but calling out the university for "not doing anything for mental health" in response to them literally doing something about mental health feels like the wrong way to handle issues with the university.

This is a case where "mental health" is being used as the untouchable get out of jail free card. ND/MF/this team is better for him being gone.

I'm not going to rag on the dude. I've been in some bad places with it in the past and still deal with it from time to time.

It's not fun and, unfortunately, it can often leave you feeling slighted if you feel you're not being accommodated accordingly. GAD is a bitch.

When I was coming back from my deployment, I wanted to go to MH and finally get some clarity on some of the issues I've been having. Unfortunately, this was right when COVID hit and the lockdowns were taking place.

A lot of things weighing on my mind and no real outlet, because COVID heavily restricted our access to in-person mental health care. It got to the point, where I checked myself into the ER just to be seen. I had so much anxiety, I'd spend hours some days literally shell shocked and frozen, sitting in my car or in an empty room just trying to make sense of everything.

For a good couple of weeks, I was dealing with some severe anxiety attacks. Felt trapped, felt like the rest of the world was going 100 mph around me. And I felt that I finally was seeking help like they had told me to do, and I was getting no answer. And when I finally went to MH, and didn't get the answer I wanted/expected, I just got more bitter and anxiety-ridden. I was very much angry at how the military healthcare system treated me.

Thankfully, I did manage to handle it and overcame that dark period. Everything seemed to work out in the end. My orders were canceled thankfully, due to COVID, I got into therapy and got medication. I just had to take a breath, be patient and let things unfold. I had to learn that I can't let myself panic over what I couldn't control, which for me, is easier said than done. But once I let some time pass, I just focused on what I could control and do mine, and let everything else sort itself out.

Unfortunately, the victimhood/entitlement complex runs part and parcel with a lot of people dealing with anxiety. It's not healthy and it can ruin your relationships. For Ziegler, he may just need to take time, continue getting help, and take perspective on what you can and can't control.

I read on 247 some of the posters there were saying the same.

The kid absolutely loves loved loved Notre Dame.
Idk what happened to cause him to change like this, but it worries me. This sounds like severe CTE type of personality split.

Wishin you the best in dealing with everything Balki. Thanks for your service for one, and thanks for sharing the above. Not sure the root cause of Nolan’s issues, but I feel for the guy regardless and hope he gets things worked out.
Appreciate it.

I won't sit here and pretend like I've gone through some Vietnam era PTSD shit. There's vets and those currently serving who have seen far, FAR worse. Hell, I'm working with a consulting group right now with transitioning vets, many of which are former special forces guys, who have probably seen more shit in 1 tour than any of us will see in a lifetime.

That said, it's hard for me to see somebody like Ziegler going from loving ND and embracing being a legacy, to being frustrated with ND and how it handled his situation. Not to say ND screwed up, but it's like what I dealt with. I love the Air Force and everything it has done and will continue to do, which is why I'm still going to continue in the guard, but there was a time where I had an irrational hatred for the AF for the way I felt I was treated amidst the COVID pandemic.
