Going back to the sexual assault lawsuit, Notre Dame is also being sued by a guy who was expelled but claims there was an unfair trial, and his case sounds really compelling. The school just can't seem to get it right when it comes to title IX stuff.

As for the Randolph lawsuit, it sounds like Hunt alone was the problem; the bad news is that Hunt is in charge of the whole sports medicine group, so that reflects poorly on the whole culture and those who put him in that position. No matter what comes of this lawsuit, I'm praying for Doug Randolph and any pain or future problems that might arise from his condition. You hate to see the negative effects of football on anyone, but with someone so young it makes it even harder.

Serious question, how does this keep happening? At this point, it's one of two things : (1) We suck at covering these things up compared to every other blue blood (don't tell me we get treated unfairly. USC, Michigan, Bama scandals would be just as juicy); (2) There is a serious culture problem either in the football team or on campus.

Honestly, I don't think its just us. The media will probably get a hold of the Doug Randolph one because that actually sounds bad, but the sexual assaults ones are happening everywhere. Its a problem on college campuses and it seems like Title IX offices have overreacted and now there are all these lawsuits by people who were accused of the assaults. I can't remember the specifics, but there was a bad case at USC against their kicker I believe who got expelled because a third party reported dating violence that his girlfriend denied and then she hired a lawyer to sue because the university wouldn't let her contact her boyfriend. That story seems crazy, but I don't even remember it getting that much coverage. Sadly, sexual assault stories are too common on college campuses, but what they're doing to try to stop them doesn't seem to be working, and the victims who don't receive justice and the unfairly accused are seemingly just collateral damage at this point.

Blankenship too. He didn't actually land at Oklahoma, nor is he "expected to play this fall," but that was the plan and prosecutorial hyperbole is not unheard of.

That Maryland lawsuit is the biggest bunch of bullshit I've ever seen. No one is at fault for a regular ass injury, and there is no risk to someone waiting a few hours to see their mommy.

OK reading the full article they either have facts wrong or I have no fucking clue who they are talking about. It's possible the suit is just inaccurate about the "transferring to a P5 school with a clean record."

With this lawsuit, what is it actually about? I'm genuinely confused. She's suing because the university told her if she dropped it she would get what she wanted which is no contact with him? And how did she have the power to drop it when the second victim is the one who actually brought the case?

EDIT: Re-read the article and saw this
suing for damages on the counts of negligence and invasion of privacy, breach of contract and violation of Title IX on the basis of gender bias.

If it's not power 5 school, I would lean toward the player that had rumors about an assault and then transferred to a Conference USA school.

No inside knowledge but I wouldn't take "transferred to a P5 school and playing this fall" as gospel. Lawsuits can make whatever claims they want and sort out the facts - especially secondary facts like that - later.

Yeah, that was my initial inclination. Fit everything but the "power 5" thing.

I believe Jalen Guyton eventually ended up at UNT but really don't remember how/why he left Notre Dame.

I don't want to be the one to put the name out in case it is wrong. Thought if I put out the conference of who I am thinking it might be, people could do some research and figure it out.

You wouldn't be giving a name on "who did what," we were just wondering who else from ND ended up at a CUSA school.

To be clear, I thought this could apply to one of two guys, but neither fits the "clean record to P5 school and playing this year" qualifier so I think we should refrain from guessing every single transfer's name. I think the lawsuit didn't have all their facts correct, which might mean it also doesn't have some other facts correct, so let's not do this.

The dumbest thing about thinkpieces like that is that they miss the point entirely... ND fell off because of bad coaching hires and a decision in the 90s not to go all in with the CFB/football factory arms race.

The TV rights thing is a small piece of the pie, along with changing demographics in the Midwest. Superconferences themselves have almost nothing to do with why ND is bad on the field.
