Agree, I actually wouldnt mind seeing Book take that job of holder. I know this would mean a burnt red-shirt. But is Book really needing a red-shirt? With what is in front of him and coming behind, a career back-up projection, it may not make much difference 4/5 years in the end.

I think that could be a good role for Van Gordner.

Anybody else catch this?

I get what the author is implying. Even if Kizer wasn't the starting QB, he still isn't going to be on special teams. That's a given.

Actually, the last sentence was just a lead-in to the next entry in that article. It said "that means..." "Sean Crawford is no longer #14"

It wasn't a hint that Kizer is the starter.

Who's doing the hard knocks thing for CFB this year like we did last year? Interested to see who they pick. Michigan is the obvious choice to me.

Dabo Sweney would also be awesome. OSU but Meyer to me seems boring. UCLA could be a fun one since Mora is a personality. Oregon? Saban wouldn't do it. Maybe Florida.

Hey now! It's only to the point of hilarity...

Trust me, it's a "Brothers In Arms" thing.

Until I engage in an unfiltered internet rant at some site or another.

I don't mess with anything food related, however.

Like in game a different player will wear it each week or after game a different player will be awarded a #1 jersey as a kind of player of the game award???

Judging by how it was written, they will look at the previous week's on and off field success. So it will be awarded to a player each week as an award for previous week's excellence.

I think it's a great idea.

Are quarterback recruits being sold on the idea of redshirting with development in mind, because if you are a good college quarterback you aren't going to be around for four years anyhow?

They should be.
Along with offensive line, QB is the position where that redshirt year is most important for development. And since only one guy can play anyway, it buys time to sort out how they fit in the pipeline (or if they eventually decide to transfer). On the back end, most NFL-drafted QBs max out their eligibility in college, be it in four years or five.
On that note, I'd be surprised if Kizer jumps after next year, and even more surprised if they burn Book's redshirt to be a holder.

So you don't think he could be a Top 3 QB?

I think Books will not redshirt this year and not because he is going to be a holder.

I think they redshirt Wimbush this year and Books is the third QB, unless Kizer and Malik go down with injuries (please god no). Then Wimbush would be in play. Books would redshirt next year.
