Note that this includes only games against FBS opponents (as is right and just), which is why 11 of the teams ranked above us show as having played 1-2 fewer games.

Sort of.... New Mexico and Bowling Green are worse football teams than many non-FBS opponents.

Yes, they are worse than some but the FCS teams with 20 fewer scholarships usually lose and Vanderbilt, Kentucky, the Mississippi's, South Carolina, and Arkansas usually lose too. Then there are the GA Southern and others that formerly were FCS teams but jumped to FBS to secure a fodder paycheck and pad their schedules but playing a heavy dose of weaker teams.

Without a couple of FCS team wins each, the SEC would have trouble filling their guaranteed bowl slots. And the Alabama's and Auburn who played Samford and Western Carolina before the Iron Bowl should be disqualified from Playoff consideration.

ND and one or two other FBS teams are the only ones that don't play FCS teams. ND hasn't played one since the 1930's while OSU, ALA, OU and other major CFB winners may have 100 "padded" wins since then.

It's said Notre Dame has never scheduled an FCS team, so if they played one in the 1930s it must not have been FCS at the time. Technically only 3 teams I guess have never played one: ND, UCLA, and USC. However, USC is scheduled to play UC Davis in 2021 so that leaves just us and the Bruins.

The split didn’t happen until the 70s so that’s why it’s counted as such

This is not him saying he's coming back next year

Grunhard played most of the season on the two deep. It would be a shame not to make him a scholarship player.

I know the final poll holds little weight unless your team is #1 but I’m curious how many of the following teams you feel should remain ranked ahead of ND. Some of these will be pending their bowl game & I realize most of us have a built-in bias so I’d love to hear from our 2 Bama posters (& any other non-ND fans) as well.

Baylor likely loses to UGA giving Baylor 3 losses. How is baylor worthy of a higher ranking? They’re not IMO

The loser between Oregon & Wisky will have 3 losses. Wisky has better resume than ND when looking at wins but who has Oregon beat other than Utah who got embarrassed by SC’s 3rd string QB?

Highly unlikely, but if UVA knocked off UF it likely gives ND their best win and could/should drop Gators below ND. Probably won’t happen though.

More likely is UT knocking off Utah which would give the Utes 3 losses & I can’t think of any great wins they had.

OU will likely only drop to 5 but after what we saw Saturday, their resume isn’t that much better than ND’s is it? What’s their best win? Baylor but who did Baylor play and they’ll likely get blown out by UGA. B12 is more overrated than I initially thought.

If scUM pulled off an upset over Bama that would give the Tide 3 losses & their best win over an above average TAMU. The more likely scenario is Bama spanking scUM giving the Skunkbears four losses but no one can get past the one bad night ND had in Ann Arbor so I get the feeling that scUM could’ve gone 1-12 and still be ranked above ND b/c of head-to-head!

I guess my point is that even ND fans will be hard pressed to justify a top 10 finish despite an 11-2 record. ND just lacked an impressive win I suppose but if you told me they’d finish 11-2 yet outside the top 10 in the final poll, I’d call you nuts.

I’m guessing ND gets as high as 12 but more likely 13.

No way Bama doesnt skulldrag Michigan. I dont think this one will be pretty. Bama is pretty pissed and far better athletes and coach.

Cant see ND being out of the top ten with 11 wins

How many guys do they have sitting out the game because they're entering the draft?

Depending on how the other games play out, with who I think will win ND ends up 12. With a couple upsets they might get to 11 but I don't see ND getting in the top 10.

I was already seeing the opposite:

-Bama has a bunch of disinterested guys either sitting or halfassedly playing

-Michigan pulls out all the stops, and wins

-Michigan fans talk for decades about how they slayed the mighty Crimson Tide at their peak

The problem is there are already 8 teams with at least 11 wins in front of them and another 4 with 10 that could get to 11. ND may be one of 14 teams with at least 11 wins and this is only the Power 5 schools. I don't see them leapfrogging any 11 win team that is already in front of them or any 10 win team that gets to 11 with a bowl win that is already in front of them

No matter how the rest of the games go, the media will fully crap on ND one last time and keep them out of the top 10.

After watching the bowl, Im thoroughly convinced this was a top ten, very good team, that might have crapped the bed one week, but showed up the rest.

*If they merely pissed the bed, top ten would already be a foregone conclusion.
