The receivers and TEs are more talented going into this year than in 2016. Not to mention, there is far less drama revolving around the offensive staff and at QB.
In '16, ND didn't just lose their 3 starters at receiver, they also lost their most productive TE in Mack to suspension, and Hunter was the most productive returning receiver and he was never the same caliber player after the horrid cheap shot he took vs. Texas. Robinson also retired from football prior to 2016.
This year, ND returns a lot more talent and a lot of these are guys who have seen legitimate playing time.
Losing Claypool and Kmet sucks, but ND is getting back arguably their most talented receiver on roster in Kevin Austin, they're adding a veteran and solid possession guy in Skowronek, Lenzy and Keys will be healthy and have more established roles. Then of course, there's the elite talent of Jordan Johnson and Xavier Watts incoming. Not to mention that ND has Tommy Tremble who looks like ND's Irv Smith Jr mulligan, on top of adding Mayer who is an absolute specimen. Also get to see what Takacs is made of if he can stay healthy.
