Just got my Notre Dame Fund request today. After some thought I wont be giving this year. Here's why- 1 13 billion endowment really doesn't need my small support- 2 they don't seem like they much care about the football team in relation to the grand scheme of the education process ( I can see their point ) is it important? Maybe not. But I for one this year will protest what I see as the representative football team of mighty Notre Dame. Criticize me if you will and I know school is more important than football but as it was said so eloquently by one of our brothers on this site a few days ago without the history of this football program this would be a small catholic university in north central Indiana. 3 The schools that are winning today are of the lesser endowed and they are hungry to collect the fruits of a good football team much like Notre Dame was a long time ago.

Ok, bub. I'm sure the regular students who rely on financial aid to attend a world-class university will thank you for your principled stand against a couple of bad football games.

Obviously your decision. One question, do you just ignore the request or do you send them a reply stating your concerns noted above so they know the reason?

I still care about the team. it's just the season isn't salvagable to me at this point relative to preseason expectations. I still watch every game (he'll, I'm going to NYC this weekend to watch them), I'm just not the usually nervous wreck I am when there's more on the line, hence the indifference.

Except that the game is in E. Rutherford NEW JERSEY, not NYC, soooooooo...

I will answer that-----my answer is I don't think they care. I'm not advocating win at all cost and destroy the college life education process offered to these fine lads just that I'm not going to give this year in lieu of what seems to me as an entitlement mess. I think these guys have it better than they know and the schools endowment certainly wont miss my paltry contributions. As for the guy who responded with 'bub' I don't think my non contribution will hurt the 13 billion endowment much and no student is going to suffer. They are running this football program just as they want (I understand that) but this year it will be without my giving to the Notre Dame Fund. Notre Dame is in a real tough spot --they cant run a major college football team this way in todays college football world and be Notre Dame. They can be mediocre U but they cant be a consistent winner as in years past. I finally see that now.

Is something going on with Stanford? A poster on ISD seems to think that there's a "Cold War" between the two and that Stanford seems to think that the games benefit ND more than themselves.

They're just scared that ND is gonna put together a decent performance against them and ruin their shot at the playoff.

Um...it sure as hell doesn't really benefit us to get beat by them 2/3 years. They can still win their conference and make the playoffs with a loss to ND. We are screwed if we lose to them.

Quietly praying that one or two of those big three are having down years, or that some of the "soft" games truly are "soft" games, and not some random-ass uprising like Temple had last year.

That's one weak azz home slate. Although Fuentes might have Va Tech back to glory days by then.

The road schedule though? Ville, Uga, Michigan and Stanford? Ouch.

Welcome to the role as starting QB at ND Mr. Jurkovec. lol

Oh yeah... and Duke on the road too.

Guess I'd be foolish not to recognize them being well you know.

Plus Jack Sears will be working on his Heisman resume by then.

not LSU for sure...guess he really pissed and turned them off at previous interview

Maybe the Aggies? He'll be a name that's thrown around whenever there's a big opening until he finally leaves Louisville. Somebody mentioned that his buyout is big, but that will only scare schools away for so long, I'd think.

Maybe Saban retires sometime before then > Dabo jumps to Bama > Petrino takes the Clemson job as long as they're not on sanctions.

As long as Stoops is at OU longer than Saban is at Bama, Venables is the next coach of Clemson. If Stoops leaves first, Venables is the next guy at OU.

UNLESS

K State goes against Bill Snyder's wishes and doesn't hire his son. And that's not a guarantee he'd take it over one of the others if it happened the same year.

Venables has the most secure future in college football.

Don't think it will happen....But if Notre Dame runs the table and finishes 9-3, meaning winning 8 in a row over Miami, Stanford, USC and the service academies (both teams are good this year) do they make a NY 6 bowl?

I say yes. But, don't think this team could do it though.

You could put Miami #1 and ND #2 but I can't think of a program with better NFL production than us and Miami...
