I guess I'm excited for a cupcake game

We've lost plenty of those games

2013: 7-5
2014: 9-4
2015: 10-2
2016: 3-0

Careful, they've been on an upswing. They're usually one of the better MAC teams. They beat #18 Arkansas last year (finished 8-5). They've beaten Michigan in the last decade and lost by 5 to Ohio State.

This may be an easy game, and I hope it is, but Toledo can usually put up points.

I was just reminded on Facebook that Mike Golic lost yet another Notre Dame football bet on Mike and Mike. He lost this bet to Magic Johnson.

Off the top of my head, I'm probably missing some, Golic has lost the majority of not all bets on ND football games. Three come to mind:

1. FSU in 2014 to Danny Kanell
2. Northwestern in 2014 to Mike Greenburgh
3. MSU on 2016 to Magic Johnson

PLEASE Mike Golic stop make these bets on Notre Dame! You always lose! You are the bad luck charm!

I'm excited for this game just because i'm an alum. Like buster said, UT is one of the better MAC teams with a high octane offense. However, this is the first year without Campbell who put a good spark in Toledo the last few years. So i'm curious to see where the new coach ends up taking them and if he will be around by 2021.

If UT becomes a great team i can't see the coach being there by 2021. So potentially, that year falls into a possible transition year for UT IMO.

Mike Golic also lost a wager to Chris Carter for last year Fiesta Bowl against OSU. Also, lost a bet with Chris Spielman for the fiesta bowl in 2006 against OSU.

Mike Golic is at least 0-5 on his bets. Please stop the madness Mike GoliC

Mike Golic should probably stop betting on Notre Dame - Land-Grant Holy Land

Or you could do what the vast majority of people on earth do, and not listen the them.
Lol I don't really listen to them.

Clearly Golic has to stop making wagers, because every time he does Notre Dame loses. Clearly he is the cause of those loses.

Yes but in the eyes of America, they are no better than an Army team. Nationwide most people think of MAC teams and they think of those easy wins that teams schedule to pad their schedules. It is a lose lose. If ND win big, they were supposed to. If they win slim, they suck because it was a MAC team. If they lose, they really, really suck.

I'd prefer Eastern Michigan. Better chance of winning.

Some girl wrote to the Observer to whine about how drunk students are at the games.

Nobody is making you go to the games, dear. Compared to other schools, our student section is the opening scene of My Fair Lady.

I usually don't drink much before games, but it is getting harder and harder to watch this team sober.

This happens every year when some girl gets something in her craw and saddles up on a soapbox.

Believe it or not, there are a good number of students at ND who avidly hate fun. She is one of them.

Hell a few years ago, a girl wrote in and complained about guys yelling "I showered with my dad" and being too drunk. If you don't like it, don't go. Or go sit at the top of the student section by yourself.

That letter is going viral. It's on barstool sports now.

The pussification of America continues. I'd love to see how this person would react at an NFL game where the vast majority of the stadium is drunker and rowdier than the ND student section.

Or at a bar, or party, or any other fun event.

I guarantee I can get good seats to this game!

Toledo is in an interesting position.

The team voted on who they wanted as head coach. The board took their recommendation.

I believe Jason Candle is the real deal. Especially after he relocated as part of Matt Campbell's staff to Iowa City, and returned because of the honor of being chosen by the players.

Also, I know one of his defensive assistants pretty well, stellar individual. I thought the program was right under Campbell. I was wrong. But it is now. (Look at the way the UofT defense plays.)

Jason Candle (born November 12, 1979) is an American football coach who is the incoming head coach at the University of Toledo. He had been an assistant at Toledo since 2009, and at Mount Union before that. Candle played wide receiver at Mount Union and Geneva.

Playing career

Candle was born in Salem, Ohio.[1] He played wide receiver, first at Geneva College (1998–1999) and then at Mount Union (2000–2001). Both Mount Union teams he played on won the Division III championship.[2] Candle graduated from Mount Union in 2003.[3]

Coaching career

After graduating Candle stayed on at Mount Union and joined the coaching staff as the wide receivers coach, a job he held from 2003–2006. In 2007 Mount Union promoted him to offensive coordinator, replacing Matt Campbell, who had joined the staff at Bowling Green.[4]

Toledo

Candle left Mount Union in 2009 to become slot receivers/tight ends coach at Toledo under Tim Beckman. He was reunited there with Campbell, then serving as run game coordinator. Toledo promoted Candle to wide receivers coach in 2010, where he coached All-American Eric Page. Toledo promoted Campbell to head coach at the end of 2011 after Beckman became head coach at the University of Illinois. Campbell retained Candle and promoted him to offensive coordinator. Candle added the title of associate head coach in 2014.[4]

Toledo named Candle head coach on December 2, 2015, after Campbell departed for Iowa State University.[5]

If Toledo can keep him, with the recruiting that is in place, their current roster, and their staff, they could grow to be a dangerous team. I remember beating Purdue, PSU, and a couple of others before they beat Michigan. Of course if you want to go back far enough, they beat a Lou Holtz coached William and Mary!

Being around fans yelling "TONY HOMO" at Eagles v Cowboys games was one of the highlights of my childhood.

She has never lived i guess?

my friends and I were caught up amidst a big crowd of students entering the stadium, an experience comparable to a herd of stampeding cattle. Except these were not steers but college seniors — sweaty bodies pressing on each other, pushing, pulling, stumbling and yelling with flushed faces, glazed eyes and slurred speech amidst the pervasive smell of alcohol. Once in the stadium, it seemed that as my friends

Sounds fun.

But that's just me.

Reminds me of an old joke, with new life :

On a hill, overlooking a pasture below full of cows, there was a young bull, and an old bull . . .

I get that she sucks but let's not go posting her picture all over the Internet. If someone wants to look her up it's not difficult.

Just spent 20 minutes of my life trying to figure out what movie that was from because the other guy looked like a cross between Chris Penn and Matt LeBlanc. Apparently it's Michael DeLuise, one of Dom's kids. Did I know?

I'm offended that you didn't recognize the film.

Everyone is supposed to know the entirety of Sean Astin's filmography as payment for his role as "Rudy"

You should totally write an editorial on this subject to The Observer!

When I do, I will use crayon and make up words just for your benefit. I will dedicate it to the guy whose moniker is a dense loaf of ground cow.

Not going to lie but there were some pretty hammered students tailgating. I'm not judging because I went to a school where every single person got lit at the tailgates but we witnessed what looked to be a freshman girl being carried out of the parking lot by her friends. I seen a couple people sleeping on the island curbs, 1 guy in particular puking. Definitely a different ND tailgating experience that what I've been used to throughout the years but I don't mind it one bit, lol.
