Lowest it got here was minus 14 with windchill down to minus 35-40. It depends on which weather report you listen to here. Crazy narrow snow band though..... They were calling for 2-3 FEET of snow over approx 30 hrs and we got maybe an inch or two. That was blown away by the wind gusts. Parts around Buffalo got hit the hardest and even without the snow it was damn cold. My job requires me to be outside quite a lot so this weather = shrunken nads. Worst part is my kids missing school and thereby the girls hoops games getting canceled.

We reached a balmy 4 degrees today.
Tomorrow we're supposed to hit 22.
I'm breaking out the pool and speedos.
But for tonight

Emergency // University of Notre Dame

Notre Dame Emergency Information

Emergency updates are available on Facebook and @nd_news on Twitter.

Current Status
2014/01/05 6:23 pm EST
Due to current and forecasted weather conditions and related safety concerns, the University of Notre Dame will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 6. Snow emergency personnel are asked to report. Exception: Classes in Notre Dame Executive MBA program will meet as scheduled tomorrow since most participants are already on campus. A decision as to whether to reopen on Tuesday, January 7, will be made Monday afternoon after an assessment then.

You guys did know this, yes?

My wife works for that program, so she was one of the few souls in South Bend that actually had to work on Monday (yesterday as well).

I'm on my 3rd day off from work, which of course is not including the 2 weeks off for Christmas break. Of course, having a 2 year-old is NOT a day off (shout-out to all you stay-at-home moms). I love my baby girl, but daycare is open today, so I'm taking her in for a half day so I can work out and friggin relax. #fatheroftheyear

Have you ever been to Corbin, Kentucky?

Oooo, I have! I'm sure it's a bit more modernized now compared to when you visited. I guess the last time I actually stopped there was around 2002. Definitely a quaint, little town. I remember driving up and around hills trying to find the original KFC, what a trip.

Great story, Bogs, reps.

You got lucky. We got the snow and the sub zero temps. Today we're getting a little relief. Woke up it was 8 with a forcasted high of 21 today. 40's this weekend! Time for shorts and sandals.

We sure did get lucky with the snow. It is 2 whole degrees right now here, and school was canceled again. Supposed to finally get into the low teens by this evening.

Yeah, when I was there they told me to stop there, and I understood there was a little museum, (Fried Chicken Museum?), too. I thanked them for their suggestion.

Lots of family history for me in Corbin and Laurel River Lake. Spent lots of time there in the 1980s-1990s. I cut my wild man teeth in the wilderness around that area.

That's funny because my daughter is a freshman playing on varsity too. They have had to cancel games four times already this season. Our team is really good too, we are ranked 6th in the state for class and our only loss was to a highly ranked school literally 5-6 times our size.

Yeah, the museum isn't that impressive. It's just the old kitchen, if I recall, attached to the actual restaurant with some signs pointing out where the fryer was and such. You can get your picture with the Colonel though! It's just a white statue on a bench...not the corpse or anything (You never know with Kentucky).

Small world, my dad grew up in Corbin. He knew the Colonel, or more accurately knew of him and use to eat there occasionally.

I've never been there unless as a very young child. My grandparents moved to Knoxville when they got older.

Work cancelled again tomorrow. At this point I'm holding out for being off the whole week.

Been without water all day though due to a burst pipe. It's not as fun being a pile of shit for 24 hours when you can't shower the stank off.

Today, last I checked it was still around -5, with 25 mph winds, the weathermen doubt the wind chill climbs above -20! Until tonight when it rises rapidly.

I expect with a thirty degree temperature gain we will get above the four to five inches of snow predicted. I have my blower ready! Am going to dress warm kick ass! Snow blowing ninja assassin!

Next week is the bad news. We could have five days that break individual low temperatures! I will say prayers for all of your health and well being, you guys remember us. Good intentions all around!

Before bed last night I checked The Weather Channel to see if there was a possibility of school cancellations and it said the temperature was -13 but feels like -28. I thought to myself what's the difference.

Ice-ball dingleberries. At -28 all dingleberries are in ice-ball form, definitely!

Its like 25 degrees right now in Charleston and people are losing their minds. No snow, no rain, really clear and sunny.
